I'm deeply ashamed of my profession. Its treatment of Jason Arday - right across the board - fills me with disgust and horror. The tormenting of a highly vulnerable man was seen as monetisable entertainment. This is a stain that won't wash off. bylinetimes.com/2026/08/19/j...

Jason Arday: We Must Rage – Rage Against the Journalism of Cruelty

The death of the academic shows the casual conversion of humiliation into entertainment by a media running on monetised hate and cruelty

🎩 Donald Trump raped children, and just because our system is so broken we can’t hold him accountable Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, it happened, and now he is using the power of the presidency to cover it up And MAGA is enabling him to get away with it, just think how fucked up that really is

Disneyland hotel workers help make magic happen for millions of visitors every year. It’s time they got the fair pay they’ve earned and deserve. Solidarity with our @unitehere11.bsky.social union siblings!

NOW: workers demonstrate outside of Disneyland and the #D23 Disney fan event carrying signs reading "There's no magic in our paychecks" and "I can't eat fairy dust." Workers are calling on Disney to provide fair wages for the people who make the guest experience possible.

NEW: Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) used the following words to describe data center developers today; "Predators" "Bullies" "Secretive" Shapiro signed a new state exec order tightening restrictions on data centers, requiring they get local approvals & provide their own power

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

"a bookseller suspected that an order they received for 1,000 books on Biblio...was for an AI company. So...they agreed to place an Apple AirTag between the pages... They tracked [it] to a site at a massive Amazon warehouse in Nevada, where workers say their job is to strip the spines off of books"

Artificial Intelligence and Amazon destroying our literary history. This is beyond shameful, and needs to stop. Tech bros want to monitize and control everything that belongs to us all. futurism.com/artificial-i...

Natalie Harp is basically gender-affirming care for Trump. I doubt that he’s really taking her to PoundTown? It’s symbolic. She, however, is making a LOT of money and not necessarily off Trump himself. Other people are paying her off for info, and she has early access to market-moving information.

Ossoff on why he invoked Natalie Harp during his speech: "We're in wartime. The commander in chief has mired us in this geopolitical disaster. People have lost their lives ... and he retreats into this bubble of West Wing aides who are his security blanket to make him feel good about himself"

The more attacks enrage Trump, the more you know they are effective. Dems should take note of this. The fact that the president has what seems to be a 24/7 minder to take care of his personal needs is a huge concern. And "where is Melania" critiques are certainly fair play w/Clintons.

Will Bunch@willbunch.bsky.social · 3d ago

The incredible reaction to Jon Ossoff saying just one word about our emperor's new clothes -- "Natalie" -- shows what Democrats can do if they just speak the truth about what all of us can see with our own eyes

It should also be a bigger story because the most reasonable alternative explanation is “the president has a functional nursemaid with him at all times because he can no longer competently make it through his days on his own.”

Noah Berlatsky@nberlat.bsky.social · 3d ago

I have to say it does seem like, "the president and his wife are separated because of his very public adultery and now he's sleeping with an aid who is fifty years his junior" would be a bigger story in most admins.

"...Frightened and unsure who they were or what they wanted, he ran. While fleeing, he says he was struck with what he believes was a stun gun or Taser. He has no memory of what happened next, including how he sustained his injuries, how he was transported, or how he ended up at a hospital. ..."

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: An attorney says his client suffered a brain bleed and traumatic brain injury after a violent ICE apprehension, then woke up in a hospital with no memory of what happened. His family didn't know where he was for days. Now his lawyer is demanding answers.

The 60 largest planned data centers could produce the same amount of carbon dioxide emissions as 27 coal plants. Big Tech CEOs are polluting our planet and selling out our future to line their own pockets. We need a data center moratorium — now.

I'm anti- tech for tech's sake tech has failed to deliver on most of its promises speed, abundance, customizability, and automation have not made a dent in poverty and exploitation medical imaging tech, for example, is great shit the surveillance device I'm writing this on? ill-conceived

Laura Chapin@laurachapin.bsky.social · 3d ago

Note to the media: Those of us who have problems w Flock cameras are not "anti-tech". I use tech every day. It's a tool. What I resent is a police state using tech to spy on citizens with a presumption of guilt. I'm not anti-tech, I'm anti-authoritarianism. It's why we have a Constitution FFS.

In Idaho last week, a federal district court struck down two state laws restricting doctors from providing essential abortion care to women with high-risk pregnancies—and declared the laws “outlier positions” that defy the constitution and the fabric of American history.

A Federal Court Just Struck Down Idaho Abortion Restrictions. The Win Could Set the Stage for a Bigger Fight at the Ballot Box.

When most people think about post-Dobbs abortion litigation, they assume every lawsuit is trying to overturn the Supreme Court's decision. But a groundbreaking case in Idaho charts a differen...
