Ok today was my first day back at school and I stayed off my phone like a good little team player. So hopefully none of you said anything interesting today.🤞

You can tell this cohort shift is real because when you go to buy a burrito or a coffee, the franchises are playing songs that played at my middle school dance
AOC: Millennials are not punk kids anymore. We're grown adults with mortgages and kids, and that generation is starting to be decisive at the polls. And there is anger at being ignored, having our economic futures mortgaged by the generations that came before us and we're taking the reins
I love how Lopez hasn’t tweeted in 4 months and laced them back up just to dunk on Royce
The penny dropped for me when I realized that my nieces, nephews, and friend’s kids have never known a political world without Trump.
Been thinking about this a lot as so many Democrats ~my age & older fret about why The Kids These Days are supporting “socialism” & DSA candidates. Spending one’s days around 18-22 year olds quickly makes clear they have ~no frame of reference of a “normal politics” that looked like the Obama years.
Werner Herzog didn't drag a 30-ton steamship up a hill so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable"
Buster Keaton didn't stand still while a two-ton housefront collapsed on top of him with a window cut out to barely clear his shoulders on each side so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."

Sam Raimi didn't strap a Super 8 camera to a 2x4 so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."
Lonestar played the fair tonight and yes they played some of my favorites like Walkin' in Memphis and Mr Mom, but they also rocked the hell out of a Rollin' in the Deep cover. 🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵 It was a hell of a night, thanks for coming Lonestar!
If you’re wondering why I – we – are making such a fuss about Krukow retiring, just imagine: these guys have been in our ears for decades, sharing their friendship with us and warmly inviting us inside. Impossible to fake or replicate, this is truly the end of an era. 🧡🖤
Jim Henson didn’t muppeteer a tiny green frog that was singing and playing the banjo, with rubber gloves while totally submerged underwater in a airtight aluminum tank just so you could tell me that AI is “inevitable”.
The Wachowski sisters didn't use 120 cameras to film one shot just so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."
Listening to Kruk and Kuip talk about the game has made me a better, more knowledgeable fan.
Yup, having sat on the couch and read until I now have to get ready to go work at the fair, today's to-do list is now officially tomorrow's to-do list.
Today's to-do list is: Dig hole Shower Wash sheets I'm seriously considering just changing the date at the top of the list and worrying about it all tomorrow.

I want to go get lunch at the Cafe, but I also don't want to have to get out of my PJs. A dilemma.
BMW letting us all know they don't remember 2014 and U2's album on iPhones...or maybe more likely figured they wouldn't have the same problem.
BMW owners have discovered that a Spider-Man: Brand New Day ad has been forcefully added to their car's infotainment system. https://bit.ly/4q186sW

"By using AI to do X, it keeps me from having to do X" is a statement that's clearly true in some circumstances, though the risk that AI is going to do X badly, and often invisibly badly, is a serious one. But "by using AI when I do X, I get better at doing X" seems clearly false in all instances.
It occurs to me that this is key to breaking down one of the ways that pro-AI and anti-AI people tend to talk past each other. There are things that AI can do *for* us, and that list of things is likely to grow. But I'm not seeing any serious examples of things that AI can do *with* us.
There is no way to do anything interesting in any sustained way in any field without immersion in that field. That's just a fundamental fact of being human, and there's no getting around it.
Reminder: ChatGPT first came online in November 2022. We’re attributing “inevitable” societal changes to a technology that has yet to see its first midterm election.
Neoclassical econ assumes rationality. The corollary of, "If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?" is "you're rich, so you must be very smart!" Thus, people assume that if powerful, well-compensated CEOs insist that "AI is changing everything," well then, *AI must be changing everything*. 1/
@kdcaseywrites.bsky.social Hangonaminute.....is your pen name a reference to the main character of Take Me Out to the Ballgame?!? I'd forgotten her last name and was just reminded of it.

Guys will listen to male influencer bullshit about needing to have a six pack and manipulate everyone and meanwhile women will go “you know who is the sexiest fucking guy I’ve ever seen?” and post this
research has actually become a lot harder now that google doesn't really recognize booleans anymore
