One work meeting stands between me and 1.5 days off. This afternoon: making 48 cupcakes and putting together goody bags for kiddo’s birthday.

I feel like I’ve been in a really negative head space for an undetermined amount of time. I’m tired of it. So I’m looking for glimmers of goodness, whimsy,& joy all around me. Right now it’s my 60+ pound #dog who thinks he’s the size of a chihuahua fully curling up on my lap to sleep.

I fervently wish to never, EVER hear “it’s tree roots” *ever again* when it comes to the plumbing in this damn house. I have literal nightmares from a year ago and we’re back to it again.

Realizing I’m probably on Day 3 of my #migraine is sucky. Realizing that stress outside of my control is likely exacerbating it is extra sucky. Sometimes having #chronicpain means having a hard time knowing when it’s “bad enough” to take more drastic measures.

I know it’s going to be disgustingly hot today. Let me pretend it’s cooler by wearing my “Fall Book Club” shirt, making dinner in the slow cooker, and maybe burning a fall scented candle. I want cooler temps 😭😭😫

My sweet #cat Stella was surrendered from an unsafe, toxic environment when she was very young. She didn’t know what treats were, or how to respond to petting. She’s grown fond of treats and has decided that petting is a reciprocal event. I pet her, she gently pats my neck or chin. I love her.

The world is heavy but I have a 10lb ball of floof on me, drooling and making biscuits. Stella girl hopes everyone takes a moment to breathe. Drooling is optional. I love this #cat so damn much.

You know…. I think it’s time to step away from the endless cycle of instantaneous news/ updates/ info and avoid all the headlines for a few days. It’s giving me some serious anxiety and panic.

It’s a very strange feeling to have had enough sleep and feel like I can tackle the day. Having meds adjusted and experiencing restorative sleep has been a godsend. I can’t believe there are some people who just wake up feeling like this!

Living in the Midwest, I’m sometimes challenged in getting a copy (physical, digital, or audio) of an author from across the pond. I finally convinced my local library to get the audiobook of “Tamed” by @profaliceroberts.bsky.social! Hearing her steady, informative, inviting cadence is such a treat.

Getting a whole day, a SATURDAY, together as a family, is an absolute treat. Surprised the kiddo with a new box of Legos. Running errands together. Everyone slept in. I am so happy.

I will never mind being this dog’s pillow. Hearing his deep breathing, his slow licks as he falls asleep, and feeling the weight of him pushing onto my head. All of this is good.

Classical music good. An enjoyable book is good. Being freshly showered and listening to my husband lightly snore is good. Feeling weighed down by the presence of pets who love us is good. Today is good.

You know that intense clarity of panic cleaning before you have someone arrive at your house on short notice? Not a pleasant experience, but man my house feels better.
