Fiction writer. Freelance Editor. Dad. Heavy metal dirtbag.

Amidst the utter psychosexual wildness that is JANE EYRE, why don't more film adaptations traffic in the scene where Mr. Rochester disguises himself as a parlor fortune-teller woman to plunder the single ladies' secrets? WHAT IN THE WHAT

I'm currently accepting clients & the manuscripts they love in my new-ish capacity as a professional freelance editor of fiction and creative non-fiction. So, you know, if you or anyone you know is in need of such a thing, please send yourself or them my way--DM or email.

As I believe I've mentioned on here once or even several times before, I am currently accepting clients & the manuscripts they love in my new-ish capacity as a professional freelance editor of fiction (short stories, novels), and creative non-fiction (essays, memoirs.) So, you know, if you or anyone you know is in need of such a thing, please send yourself or them my way.

Speaking of which: with the help of my older son, Sebastian, I also made an INFOGRAPHIC (impressed?!!!) of myself looking all piercing and beardy, which is posted below. Share widely, please! Or just hit me up directly, because my queue is wide-open. DM or email.

Hey, everyone. Your favorite New Orleans eccentrics are moving to Paris for 5 months--hopefully longer!--at the end of January, where brilliant spouse Darcy has nabbed a research fellowship connected to her PhD. A bientot, mes ami!

Mona Awad's BUNNY: loved parts, didn't care for others. But I'll admit it does linger pleasantly in the mind. More fairy tale-inflected dark academia, please! I also dug how directly it seems to channel Shirley Jackson's Hangsaman.

While it's a very clever inversion of American Psycho, and also kind of its own thing, it didn't always hit for me at the same depth as the "source material." But damn, is this book WICKEDLY funny at times, especially to a sick twist like me, I guess. I LOL'd all the way to the churchyard!
