Ein bunter Comic-Ausschnitt aus der Asterix-Reihe, aufgeteilt in zwei Panels:
Panel 1: Ein Gasthaus in Frankreich in den 1960er Jahren. Ein älterer Kellner lehnt sich fragend zu einem Gast an einem gedeckten Tisch. Der Gast, ein Mann mit Schnurrbart, Serviette und blauem Jackett, antwortet zufrieden. Kellner: „Wie immer?“ - Gast: „Wie immer…“ Im Vordergrund sitzen zwei Männer im Trenchcoat, die gerade Bier trinken.
Panel 2: Der Schnurrbartträger, der Obelix sehr ähnlich sieht, antworte: „… WILDSCHWEIN!“
Daraufhin prusten die beiden Männer vor Schreck synchron ihr Getränk über den Tisch – mit dem Geräuschwort „PRUUUST!“ dargestellt.

Eine der bekanntesten Rastplätze ist das Restaurant "Zum lachenden Wildschwein" in Asterix bei den Briten. Das gekochte Wildschwein mit Pfefferminzsoße ist inzwischen legendär! [4/14]

Eben beruflich videotelefoniert, ich hatte vergessen, dass ich ein Blind Guardian-Shirt (Somewhere Far Beyond) trug (normalerweise neutrale Kleidung, gerne Hemd). Meine Gesprächspartnerin: "by the treachery of men the field is lost. The night falls and great is the triumph of evil."

Essential maintenance

A clipping tool. I don't know what it was originally designed for, it is quite popular for clipping game counters, in cosims, for example. There's a can of WD40 and a can of Ballistol universal oil and some Q-tips, as well.

My photo shows an ornately carved wooden head of a beast-like animal with a long wooden neck. Excavated from the Viking Age Oseberg ship burial of two women. The creature has a rounded snout with flared nostrils, a wide open mouth, and large, bulging eyes that give it a fierce expression.

The surface of the head is covered with exceptionally fine carvings. The back of the head is covered with interlaced ribbons and animals, and the top of the snout is ornamented with a cross-hatched pattern.The decoration is so dense that almost every visible part of the head is textured. The features are stylized rather than natural, creating a powerful guardian-like figure that reflects a high level of Viking craftsmanship. The long neck is smooth wood except for a geometric band around the bottom, not seen in my photo.

The Oseberg Viking ship burial of two women contained five of these unique carved animal heads, the exact function of which is unclear. Each head was found with an iron rattle attached to a rope, and some of the ropes ran through the mouth of the beasts.

I saw this artefact in 2018 at the former Viking Ship Museum in Oslo which has now closed. It is being redeveloped and will open late 2027 as the Museum of the Viking Age
