Yes!! She grew up in Pittsburgh, and is one of the creatives from the area my first year students can choose to research & present on. Her first comic was published in the Pittsburgh Courier.

She created Torchy Brown in Dixie to Harlem, Torchy in Heartbeats & Patty-Jo ‘n’ Ginger. Patty Jo became a toy doll.

I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.
