Sorry but the OP is so funny. "Oh you hate AI? Well what if all these things that suck and burn natural resources, and that also stole from you, which you have never used even once went away?" What point is this meant to prove?
I have one answer.
Don't look now, but the world has now installed 3TW of solar. Took 10 years to get from 100GW to 1TW. Less than 3 years to get to 2TW. Less than 2 years to get to 3TW. Analysts expect *9TW* by 2036.
The World Crossed a Major Solar Milestone. No One Noticed
The next phase of the boom may reveal a shift in who is gaining access to the technology.

Iranian cleric honestly a little let down to discover the United States is actually an Indecisive and Middling at Best Satan.
This is the short story I read as a kid that taught me the power of the short story format. Happy "There Will Come Soft Rains" to all that celebrate

having a sudden flashback to a time i did something slightly awkward decades ago
i am a simple man. if your movie has spandex guys punching bad guys in it, i’ll watch it. so i did enjoy this movie, but there was one little thing in it that bugged me on an ethical level and the more i thought about it the more it bugged me.
"What 'Brand New Day' accidentally demonstrates, is that the Powers are at their most dangerous not when they're being debated but when they’ve stopped being named at all," writes @tylerhuckabee.bsky.social sojo.net/articles/cul...
This is the correct answer. The principle that every person living between the Mediterranean and the Jordan should have equal rights and self-determination is far more important than the number of states.
El-Sayed: "I believe in equal rights to peace, dignity, and self-determination, for Palestinians and Jewish Israelis alike... If that’s 2 states, I’m for it. If it’s 1 state, I’m for that. If it’s this 'land for all' model, ... or whatever they decide." www.newyorker.com/news/the-new...
Very sad. Terrific band.
Some clever wordplay would be the way to honor him but unfortunately this just fucking sucks. If you don’t know Trashcan Sinatras, put on Cake. You will know in one point five seconds if it’s right for you, and if it is, you’ll wonder how you lived without it. Fuck. pitchfork.com/story/trashc...

I will not be surprised by anyone in indie rock who could be described as "difficult" suddenly going conspiratorial/weird/fascist. That's the Morrissey Rule.

‘Brand New Day’ Makes Peace with the Powers of Surveillance
Walter Wink argued that the Powers are most dangerous when we stop naming them. Marvel's newest Spider-Man movie is proof he was right.

grimly funny that in The Dark Knight, Batman’s city-wide surveillance is the moral crucible, the point at which he has clearly gone too far, while in Brand New Day it’s just something that Spider-Man does.
Been listening to some "Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl" covers and it's interesting how few of them even try to match BSS's ghost-y, "poorly-transmitted-telepathic-message-from-your-teenage-self" quality. Guess that's why Yeule's version from I Saw the TV Glow works.
god i love local news
in insane local news, the 26 year old director of a rocky horror production was arrested for sending threatening messages to himself in order to get the play shut down bc he didn’t want to deal with cast drama www.mynbc5.com/article/rock...
Being persuaded that the unifying matrix of the New Right is just online porn. Deeper than anti-immigration or anti-trans legislation, deeper than devotion to Trump, deeper than veneration of the West. The root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called the GOP: porn.
Something I missed in this reporting... Brandon Herrera said in 2023: “Just because you let somebody creampie you doesn’t mean I have to give a shit about your political opinions. The fact that you kept your cum trophy doesn’t make you any less wrong about the dumb shit they say.” His response...
It's rare to get any feedback on what I write beyond a repost or a like (both of which are definitely appreciated) but I'm genuinely overwhelmed by all the messages I've gotten from this. It was very challenging to write and it's very gratifying and humbling to see it received so well. Thank you.
In the 90s and 00s, churches invested millions in youth group, creating a parallel universe for christian teenagers to grow up in and, eventually, change the world. That was the plan anyway. What happened? My first cover story for @sojo.net.
Well, at least it was for a completely lawless and pointless cause.

gotta feel for taylor kitsch. you come out of friday night lights riding high, say yes to Wolverine: Origins which bombs horribly but does eventually juice Reynolds’ career and boom: Deadpool. meanwhile you’re replaced by magic mike’s “sure, why not?” never-realized selfcast. the final humiliation.
I HATE Channing Tatum as Gambit. This Avengers Doomsday movie looks trash.
it led to some really surreal, deeply sad hijinks where like matt walsh was like “watch this, xitter chuds: i’m gonna fool the bluesky libs by pretending to be a lesbian communist, that’ll show ‘em,” and everyone on here was like “yeah, you’re just matt walsh *block*”
Bluesky oldheads will remember that brief period of time when the conservative trolls tried to storm the place and were flummoxed by the idea they would have to organically grow an audience and that someone who didn't want to talk to them could nuke every interaction they ever had from orbit
Good lord I wish some of you could read on this text based social media website.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Patricia Heaton backed a petition urging Mayor Zohran Mamdani to be barred from New York City's 25th 9/11 anniversary.
this is an interesting interview and if i were clipping it for social media i would have excerpted "We're still a place where we don't downrank links. We love sending traffic to people. We send two million clicks a day to publishers" rather than the part that'll just piss people off lol
