Saw an interesting comment earlier: In America, renters live paycheck to paycheck, landlords live rent check to rent check, homeowners live mortgage payment to mortgage payment, banks live bailout to bailout, and the US Government lives war to war.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.

Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

This is a glaring display of cruelty. 50% of LGBTQI+ young people who wanted mental health care in 2023 were unable to get it. Ripping away a lifeline in their darkest moment is unimaginable. This action will cost lives.

DOGE affiliates Kenneth Jackson and Nate Cavanaugh “disabled and restricted access to the Institute's FOIA system, terminated the employees responsible for processing FOIA requests, and restricted the use of Institute financial resources.”

Happy FOIAFriday the 13th! NEW issue of my newsletter is out. In March, I filed a #FOIA request with the US Institute of Peace just as DOGE was taking over the agency. This week USIP sent me the most incredible response to a #FOIA request I have ever received. www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Dear Mr. Leopold,
This letter is in response to your correspondence to the United States Institute of Peace (USIP or the Institute) regarding a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
We understand that your request was submitted on March 18, 2025. As you may know, at the time of your request, USIP was operating under the control of Mr. Kenneth Jackson and Mr. Nate Cavanaugh of the United States Department of Government Efficiency. Mr. Jackson and Mr. Cavanaugh disabled and restricted access to the Institute's FOIA system, terminated the employees responsible for processing FOIA requests, and restricted the use of Institute tinancial resources. The United States District Court for the District of Columbia declared all actions taken by Mr. Jackson and Mr. Cavanaugh to be null, void, and without legal effect" and affirmed USIP's current leadership on May 19, 2025. USIP leadership regained control of the Institute's FOIA system on June 4, 2025. Accordingly, we received your request on June 4, 2025. We regret any confusion caused by Mr. Jackson's and Mr. Cavanaugh's actions.

“Tesla’s driverless ‘robotaxis’ could launch in Austin as soon as June 22. But a demo in Austin today showed a $TSLA, manually driven to test its Full Self-Driving system, failed to stop for a child-sized dummy at a school bus—and hit it.” @cbsaustin @velez_tx

Governor Newsom off the top rope! Don’t let the billionaire media industrial complex fool you, anyone who looks up the crime data on their own will find the southern states make up the top 10 in most dangerous places to live. Mass poverty is the main problem, but leadership doesn’t want to solve it.

You know what’s actually newsworthy and deserves a weekly editorial takedown? The unprecedented nature of Elon Musk owning a major communications platform while paying people to vote for Trump and then working in an unofficial official capacity in the White House.

The billionaire media industrial complex is laser focused on showing working class people protesting because they want them to be the enemy. And they are completely ignoring the Epstein files. Not a mention of it since Musk last week. They want us to hate each other. To fight with each other.

ICYMI: National Guard troops were sent to LA with no federal funding for food, water, fuel, equipment, or a place to stay. “Wildly unprepared” is the phrase being used. All courtesy of Trump and Hegseth.

While Taco distracts us with the LA riots he’s instigating, let us not forget that when Joe Rogan asked FBI director Kash Patel about how Elon Musk would know what was in the Epstein files, Patel didn't say Musk was wrong. The only thing he said was he didn’t know how Musk would have seen them.

I still think it's pretty wild that corrupt oligarchs destroyed the entirety of U.S. consumer protection and corporate oversight and it's barely written about by journalists or policy folks just not really of any serious interest
