So darn quiet around here...

Us cowpokes, We take it as it comes. Owner of Branson Ranch. The last remaining member of the Branson family. A man out of time to build his legacy.
"Well, they may come around sometime soon. They are unpredictable and seem to come and go almost as if it's at the whim of some higher power." He chuckled. "But who knows, I'm no slave to fate and I simply take what comes my way. So if they do ever swing by I'll do my best to let you know."
"I see." She seemed to visibly deflate at the statement. It seemed she was interested in these mystery beings.
"Well, I can't say we have spoken long enough to make any major opinions. They have tend to wandered off as soon as they got here. Such is the way it goes, unfortunately."
"Might I ask what sort of people they were? Those that you met?"
"Quite a few times actually. It was new to me about a year ago but I have adjusted well I'd like to think."
"Huh? You mean to tell me that you've seen people like me before???"
"You aren't the first I've seen that had those kinds of features." He'd shrug. "I doubt you'll be the last. Besides, it isn't like it changes much."
"You don't seem bothered by all the...." She gestured towards herself. The horns, hooves, all of it. He had happened to see her without the glamour and showed now reaction.
He was glad that she seemed comfortable for the most part. It was unusual dealing with a new guest in the house. But he was trying to adapt. It was better than silence but he did still feel quite awkward about it.
First thing was first, preheating the oven then setting out the dry ingredients and mixing them together first. Low hums could be heard from her as she worked, an ever present smile on her lips.
He would give a small nod and show her where she could find each of the ingredients that she may need. For now he just wanted to let her get comfortable in the kitchen before they moved forward. "You can go ahead and start. I'll do some prep for my own in the background."
"It's going to be the best thing you've ever tasted, trust me." She started to look around the kitchen for the necessary ingredients. Hums could be heard from her as she looked around.
He was shocked at how drastically her mood shifted at the thought of making food. "Well with praise that high I can't help but want to have you make some."
She visibly perked up, amethyst eyes practically shining in excitement. "Honey cakes! They taste heavenly, especially after a long hard day or if you need a pick me up." As the spoke that goat tail of hers couldn't help but wiggle in excitement.
"Well are there any certain meals you tend to lean towards when it comes to celebrating somethin'?"
She knew that look quite well. It was one that told her that it was time to pivot to another topic. โSo, Iโm guessing Iโll just be assisting in this endeavor. Is there anything youโd like me to start with first?โ
"For a time. But we all grow up differently." He gave a weak smile as if he was trying to scrounge up positive in a mostly negative memory.
"It truly does sound like you had a very warm family." His memory brought a smile to her lips.
"Oh yeah, my family used to make really big meals so they needed the room to get everything ready. The table used to be overflowing with people after all."
"Oh wow, it seems we will have a lot of room to work with when we start."
If he fired people for every simple mistake no one would last more than a week in this line of work.
She isn't fired? She had half expected it.
"Hmm-..!?" "I was just restin' my eyes. I won't sleepin I swear."
Well, she will learn eventually he's sure. Needs to watch her step around new places after all.
She didnโt think it would end up like this!
And how exactly did her clothes disappear in the process....?
. . .๐ง No one tell Colt that she's managed to get stuck in a box her first day of work.
"Alright! Well, let's get into it shall we?" Once they were inside they immediately began to head to the kitchen.
"Of course, we can worry about it after the festivities."
"Well, I suppose I would be foolish to say no. Though I will urge to leave that for another time after our little celebration."
"Well, given your circumstances I feel an urge to offer a helping hand. If you need it, that is."
"I certainly wouldn't be opposed. Though I feel like that's a lot to offer without knowing me well."
"Hmm, perhaps I could offer some assistance when it comes to the tasks around the ranch then?"
If she were to speak of one guilty pleasure of hers. It would be dancing beneath the moonlight. There's a certain magic to be found in the quiet night. Happy #๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ฒ๐ซ๐๐๐ฒ ๐จ: haam
"Well our family has owned the land for quite some time. Almost all of us worked the land for generations but there was a pretty nasty split during my lifetime. Most left to do other things and things had to cut back quite a bit."
"Was everyone a farmhand within your family?"
"Yes, though it was up and down as my relationship with my family was rocky to say the least."
"Huh, it seems that I have fully underestimated your operation. You've been doing this your entire life?"
"Well, I take care of them. Some I train and sell, others I get produce from." He chuckled at her surprise. "This farm is small in comparison to many. I've cut back a lot from what it was like a few generations back."
"SIXTY???? Did I hear you correctly? What do you do with them all?"
โSomewhere around 60 if I had to guess.
"How many animals do you have again?"
"You'd be surprise. Horses take a lot of care and so do any animals that provide produce." He shrugged. "It ain't like I am running some factory. These animals require care."
โForgive my ignorance, but what all does it take to keep things running around here? It doesnโt seem as if it would be that difficult to do.โ
"Keeping this place running takes up the vast majority of my time. So it's pretty easy to just laze for the last few hours of my day whenever I'm done." He shrugged. "By the time I get to the city I'd only have a short while before needing to head back."
"What would you say is your top priority then? You seem to be a recluse, so I'm curious to know what you get up to around here."
