One of the things that, as lead writer, I had to bang into the head of senior leadership sometimes was that writers were not interchangeable even within a project. One writer knew a certain companion inside and out. When we lost that writer, a new writer coming in took twice as long to do the work.

Hey, so, I was so angry today that, for once, I blogged it instead of posting about it. Games media, especially mainstream games media, cannot keep abdicating responsibility in how it talks about these things an-evening-at-the-inn.ghost.io/video-game-s...

my belief is that at the end of the day, great games are made by groups of people who have high trust with each other & can fluidly execute a shared vision. which is a small part of why these layoffs are so devastating- it's not just about jobs, it's about these "trust structures" being torn apart.

many of us warned that every successful game company under the sun being acquired was going to be a death blow to games in the long run. The business owners who sold are rich, and the rest of us eat shit with no collective bargaining or residuals.

if any Xbox employee from any studio or part of the company want to chat with a reporter about all this, anonymously or otherwise, my email and Signal are in my bio, and I would like to listen. I cannot fathom what everyone must be feeling right now.

If anyone is looking to hire a Peabody and BAFTA winning senior writer, I am looking for work. I’ve got six years experience in games. Everything from indie to AAA. I am not married to staying in games. I am hoping to relocate to the Bay Area. I am keeping my ears to the ground.

"a goofy movie": a humble title. why it's not even necessarily "the" goofy movie. we simply, respectfully offer you this story for your consideration "doug's 1st movie": the hubris of icarus. the unbridled audacity to imply that this is only the 1st chapter of the Doug Cinematic Universe. pathetic

the best part of pokopia is walking around a little pokemon habitat where everyone is sleeping and playing adorably and then getting a loading screen tooltip that says "marshmeo - this sneaky critter uses its steel proboscis to suck the bone marrow out of its prey"

my heart goes out to all the talented creatives at Bungie who struggled under catastrophic mismanagement for years trying to make a good game who will likely be thrown into the worst games job market in history

people are already turning on grogu and they havent even seen the grotesque timeskip teen grogu in the second half of the movie with his mustache and full head of hair
