Councilors Zimmerman, Clark, and Novick voted with the three other Portland Metro Chamber endorsed "moderates" to block an amendment to the Zenith franchise transfer ordinance that would have allowed Portland residents to enforce the terms of the agreement if the Mayor (once again) refused to do so.

In case it wasn't obvious, reducing pollution – inside and outside – is good for brains!

Today, six Portland City Councilors voted down an amendment to grant community members the ability to bring legal action to enforce I Squared's franchise agreement if it's transferred from Zenith Energy. These elected officials chose to sabotage Portlanders' ability to hold polluters accountable.

ECEF would place a fee on billion-dollar corporations in Eugene to fund local climate programs. There's no reason to believe this cost would be passed on to customers. It is a fee applied to gross profits, not sales. And this has not happened in Portland with the Portland Clean Energy Fund.
