people ask what I listen to and I have to answer like I dont listen to Tiny Little Lip Balm on repeat like some kind of weirdo
In my cyclical moods and motivations, I'm back to working on a GBA game no one but me will play. This past week I got: - A large overworld with no screen-scroll - Animation system - Projectiles - Sound effects - A new look - Branching dialog system & memory (you can permanently piss-off an NPC!)
Also, when im in a simpering, weak, pathetic, crybully competition and my opponent is a driver
while I am anti-LLM, I did get lost training my own to test a hyper-specific focus. I also now see how hard the optimization problems are TLDR: this shit doesn't scale that is inherent to the discovery that bigger = better, and attention being quadratic complexity with few optimizations
I offerred a coworker one of my 3D printers - which had been sitting idle for 5y - for his son, like a year ago, and I forgot about it since then. He asked me about it again today... so anyway, I'm 6 hours deep in fixing it, replacing cables, a driver from spares, and a missing motor...

so after being bedridden for 16months due to a hernia, I've finally got my surgery! now I'm bedridden for recovery, fun! I'm still about 1400$ away from paying my electricity bill, so if you've got a couple dollars, it'd help me get through this last stretch. Thanks so much! ko-fi.com/fooneturing
work-related annoyances aside: I'm trying to work up the courage to tell my boss - who hired me at my first dev job and later hired me again at my current dev job years later - that I appreciate everything he's done for me
am I crazy or do people at work treat me like ChatGPT? 19 of the 20 things he brought up were on his end, and all he did was send me copies and screenshots of the errors that were entirely on his end
detour mini project: creating a modern foot pedal adapter cable for the NES/SNES Miracle Piano Teaching System (crappy foam original left, modern right)
I have like 14 things on my TODO list and the one I'm least interested in working on is "play a video game" strange times. I think I need to hand in my gamer card
