Carney to the EU: "We believe that a strong economy is not an end in itself, but the means to a just society. We are committed stewards of our natural heritage. We believe that our prosperity grows when it is shared." I wish the Carney we hear in speeches was the Carney who governs Canada.

When did we decide that it was good policy to commodify food, water, and shelter? Organize. Resist. Choose better. 🇵🇸🇨🇦↙️↙️↙️
Well, it happened: Prime Minister Mark Carney announced plans to open up Canada’s four largest airports to private investment. So....privatization. That's not the only thing he pledged to a room of obnoxiously rich people. I talked to economists and a top labour leader to break this down:
I couldn’t have said it better, Peter Max.
Maybe instead of all these thinkpieces about how to cut corners we tax the fuck out of the 1%.
@matthewremski.bsky.social I know there’ll be a lot of noise about this #Carney Investor’s meeting but I can’t wait to hear your take.
KAEPERNICK: The part that I hope people take away in this moment is what Robert Kraft and what they’re saying by denying Macklemore is they are openly colluding. They also want people to know that if you take an action that they don’t agree with, they will come for you.
A data center in New Jersey spilled 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel into a local creek, putting the area’s entire river system at risk. Is it any wonder nearly 70 percent of Americans don’t want a data center in their community?
Privatization wasn’t on the ballot when Canadians voted for Mark Carney. Really foul the way he’s using the blind trust so many continue to have in him to make massive, fundamental changes to Canada (hurting normal Canadians) so big companies can profit. Please pay attention.
Since it can be hard to believe that political and corporate elites would actively give up on our shared future on this singular planet, we made a short film so folks can hear from the end timers and judge for themselves. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

Starting tomorrow, I won't be on the internet for somewhere between a few days and a week. I'm having surgery in the morning (no, I don't want to go into details about it), and will be disabling my social media apps for the time I'm in the hospital. Just wanted to give people a heads up.
First of a series on From the Clinic to the Streets by Dr. Lara Sheehi, host of Psychic Militancy Podcast. This book broke my brain but also put it back together, equipped with new tools. Can’t recommend highly enough if you feel psychically attacked by fascism and liberalism.

While fascists protest in UK ports and purvey nonsense and poison online, ever fewer people have the perspective or analytical tools to challenge them, says Guardian columnist John Harris

Trump offers a bribe of $5,000 in exchange for votes, the bribe is promoted as a dividend and would cost $1.2 trillion dollars. This is a felony under 18 U.S.C. § 597, bribing someone to vote a certain way is a federal crime punishable by prison.

i’ve only ever met one man who consciously identified as a minarchist which is odd because that’s how so many cities are behaving at budget meetings and i only met that one guy in person when he was pleading guilty to racially motivated election interference.
Happy Independence Day Canada. The threats are going to come fast, furious and over the top. They will threaten escalation because the White House cannot abide an independent and democratic nation on their border. But we've got this. The Juno beach gene is in every one of us. Carry on

Corporations spend more than $1.5 billion a year on union-busting. That’s $1.5 billion they could have spent on higher wages, better benefits, and improving workplace safety. Remember: if they weren’t so scared of worker power, they wouldn’t fight so hard against unions.

Meanwhile in Canada, the feds rather quietly released a climate report on Thursday (before a long weekend, classic timing). Main takeaway: Canada is warming twice as fast as the global average, and it will get much worse on the same trajectory in the next half of the century.
