He/him. Podcaster, musician, writer. Probably making music or dinner. Trump voters fuck off. Mets/bass guitar/books/leftist politics/films/stuffed artichokes/doodling with my kids/crossword puzzles

Me, when my lawn is unkempt: fuck mowing lawns, we need areas for animals and pollinators to take refuge. Lawncare is American fascism. Assimilation to a norm for no reason is fucked up Me, the minute I cut my grass and walk past a house with a slightly shaggy look: neighborhood is going to hell.

Public service announcement from the lowest rung of live music performance: there is never a reason to try to talk to a member of a band mid-song. If it is your friend’s birthday and you want them shouted out (or want to freestyle a verse?), please wait until a song or set break.

MLB.tv shows me two different CarShield commercials 10x per Mets game. One has Eric Byrnes being as obnoxiously loud as possible. The other has Howard Johnson as stoic and boring as possible. Why were these two extremes the only options? I would think most ex-ballplayers would fall in between.

My ten favorite films off the top of my head: Back to the Future Brazil Inside Llewyn Davis Being John Malkovich Before Sunset The Empire Strikes Back Help! Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Do the Right Thing Goodfellas (These will change as soon as I hit send)

My kids have two living grandmothers, but if someone mentions “Grandma” in our house, we are 100% talking about our neighbor’s mom who brings their kids to the bus stop every morning.

Every day Instagram shows me the first 2/3 of a Threads post, and curiosity gets the better of me. The surrounding posts fall into one of 4 categories: Trump horseshit, people using the magic text to try to entrap perverts, cranky Gen X libs, or Stan accounts for things like “70s bush.” What an app!

It’s time for a time honored tradition that no one gives a shit about: Brin discusses the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! This year’s nominee list is going to make people mad for all the incorrect reasons, but let me tell you: it’s a terrible list!

Me, watching TRAIN DREAMS: I could be a logger. I’m sure I’m physically fit enough for it. Ten minutes later, walking up a flight of stairs: Fuck, why didn’t we buy a ranch?

Just had my yearly, lovely, 'catch up with my across the street neighbors while shoveling snow' discussion. We apparently have no desire to speak, just wave, every other day of the year. I think we are both cool with this arrangement.

I had a dream that I was hired to produce and write on a network variety show starring Stephen Malkmus, and I was leaning really hard into calling it “Steve!” I slowly became the darling of the production team and I let it go to my head. I can’t even have absurd dreams where I’m not an asshole.

Too many to name, but one I come back to often is the midnight release of FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING where there were cosplayers and lifelong Tolkien fans just losing their minds before the film started. Maybe the most positive theater vibe I've ever been in.

Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences? Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
