Drew Struzan literally traced the photos he used. Projected and traced. He talked about it in his method video for a Hellboy 2 poster. Maybe photo bashing is another thing entirely because it is literally someone else’s art? Don’t moralize methodology. Celebrate the human that makes the work.

Tons of artists (beginners, professionals and all in between) rely on 3D models and photos to create artwork with accurate proportions in a short time frame. Art fight encourages a consistent stream of artwork that benefits from these resources. (1/)
I will always advocate for using references like the 3d models within clip studio or using places like @theposearchives.bsky.social @trueref.bsky.social for body poses REFERENCES HELP AND ITS NOT TRACING PLEASE ARTFIGHT RECONSIDER THIS RULE

Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor. "I can't afford a visual artist" So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them? Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.
