As I write this (while I'm editing a piece about immigration and food and filmmaking) I hear what is likely the Blue Angels flying around, louder and lower than usual. The Oregon International Air Show is this weekend, so they are probably practicing for that. I'm told, "It's the sound of freedom."
I just came across a pizza called "Dude, I'm Cheesing My F-ing Brains Out" at some place called Papa Zuzus Pizza in the Desire strip club on Columbia Blvd. It's got serious cheese: Provolone/Mozzarella cheese blend, Gorgonzola blue cheese, Ricotta, Feta, and Parmesan. 🧀
Frozen salted macadamia nuts right out of the freezer are one of my favorite snacks. They are hard but not too hard, and there's something satisfying about the feel against my teeth as I chomp down on these fatty nuts. Simple joys are valuable.
Still thinking about this bowl of tasty frijol barbacoa I had last night at Bar Siete. It was $6 for a satisfying amount. This and one of their substantial tacos would make for a light meal - add club soda and a lime, and you have a meal for around $15. Also: this nice bar bites menu.

The old Sissy Bar is now something else (Alice of the Avenue). They spent months "turning a dark and dingy disco into a light garden-style bar and restaurant." They had a private sneak peek yesterday for friends, family, and neighbors w/suggested donation of $50-$100 (no one turned away, though).
