A nice spell of easterlies forecast Wednesday onwards to come off the back of the high pressure drifting over us currently, nice southerly element to it could bring some interesting migrants with it?

A lighthearted take on trying to predict bird movements based on weather forecasts for the UK….
We’re back! Autumn is starting to get going with plenty of waders in the last few weeks, this week should see the first ‘Scandi Drift’ migrants passing through with high pressure over there and a nice south easterly airflow for the next few day
A good southerly airflow this weekend, a bit of cloud and rain over Cornwall will probably result in the best concentration, but chance over most of the country of some early migrants, what will you be out looking for this weekend? One to make the most of before northerlies next week!
After a fairly dull winter for weather patterns actually bringing birds with them, we’re hoping these southerlies are the start of weather actually producing some birds! We won’t declare spring just yet but hopefully this spell of southerly/westerly weather should bring the first few arrivals 🌱

Could be some interesting cold weather movement if this modelling proves to be accurate. The #TexSpex should feel right at home.
Anyone hopeful for more than a few Little Auks blown into the North Sea tomorrow off storm Darragh?! Maybe some Iceland/Glaucous Gulls pushed down into the NW?
Grim birding weather tomorrow, but an interesting wind flow from across Northern Africa up into the UK, Pallid Swifts, African Desert Warbler and Sudan Golden Sparrow anyone?! #UKbirding
Decent northerlies over the next few days should push a few Little Auk down into the North Sea, hopefully some white wingers along with them #UKbirding
The weather forecast for tomorrow looks ok for a Little Auk or two for East coast patches? Worth a look.. #UKBirding #NEBirding #Localpatch #FieldNotebook #Northumberland
Time of year + high pressure + south easterlies = RARE/MEGA! Time for one last hit on the east coast? What’s your predictions? #UKbirding
Well worth getting out to the East Coast if you can, certainly feels like this autumn has more to give 🤞🤞🤞
Going nice and cold tonight in Scandinavia, combined with an easterly airflow should clear out the remaining small passerines and make some more Thrushes make the North Sea cross tonight
To translate into bird talk, potential for some Pallid Swifts being pushed up into UK for the weekend as well as slack wind Scandi departures and stuff moving NW out of the Low Countries #UKbirding
Mild Iberian air will move NE across the UK/Ireland during Friday pm, ahead of an Atlantic cold front. The usual migrant hot-spots (just ahead of the cold front) should see migrants tonight. It will be breezy though. East coast better placed to see the migrants on Friday evening #migrantmothuk
