And folk wonder why we talk about ecological breakdowns: in the past on this sort of date, today's brisk, chilly headwind would have been a dead cert to produce a strong passage of Swifts and a good fall of migrants; today we logged 3 Swifts and 28 nets - many open for 10 hours - caught 5 migrants!

Birding around Bangkok is rudely good at the moment - I spent this afternoon watching two Spoon-billed Sandpipers, one in very advanced breeding plumage (the best looking I've ever seen). Yesterday I had a flock of 100+ Yelow-breasted Buntings, including quite a few breeding plumaged males #birding

I'm at a meeting in Bali this week - the local mudflat has provided some pre-breakfast entertainment with several Javan Plovers providing a welcome world tick! Grey-tailed Tattler, Greater Sand Plover and Great Crested Tern as supporting cast.
