I worked at JP Morgan in Sydney where most major super funds' tax returns were run from Excel spreadsheets. There were detailed run books with instructions to manually copy and paste values from ='Data'!J45 from file1.xls to ='Calc'!ZZ127 in file2.xls, etc. And lots of untested VBA scripts.

No one in DC can bargain in good faith with Trump because he will not follow laws passed by Congress. No one internationally can bargain in good faith with Trump because he will not respect agreements made by the United States. Being a counterparty just makes you a target for another shakedown.

After he's spat in the eye of Canada of all places, no ally should feel comfortable in their "special relationship". Trump believes allies will be easier to shake down because their close ties make them more vulnerable to his tariffs and an inevitable protection racket.

Tbh I am actually surprised at how unpopular Trump is in the UK. Happy surprise!

The whole H1-B situation is going to end up with MAGA supporting H1-Bs, but only for people working in crypto.

Bluesky is way better than Twitter. I never had Angelina Jolie follow me on Twitter, or this random lottery winner who wants to give me $55,000 for being her friend.

I'm sure the infectious diseases will appreciate this and give us a break in return. Just a little truce between old adversaries.

Found a good answer here. www.reddit.com/r/BlueskySoc... Apparently (and obviously) the Discover feed does have an algorithm, but the point people are making is that you can choose alternate feeds (and algorithms) so you're not locked in to Discover.

Surely the Discover feed has some kind of algorithm. It's not picking things at random. When I first joined, I clicked on a comic, and then my feed was half comics. Then I clicked on a homemade pizza and suddenly I'm swamped with pizza shots. I'm not complaining, but something is going on here!

So far so good here at Bluesky. I tried to move to Threads a while back, but there was too much Instagram-adjacent crap. And a lot more of the people I follow are active here. Hope it keeps up, network effects are hard to overcome!

I clicked on one comic in the Discover feed and now Discover is literally 70-80% comics. WTF is going on???
