I knew today was going to be big. I didn’t know we’d have so many volunteers that we’d leaflet the ENTIRE constituency in just two hours (!!) - 80,000 leaflets. And we got to speak to so many people on their doorsteps. This is how we win this campaign. Thank you, everyone. 🙏🏽

Under the UK’s non-proportional voting system, the far-right AfD in Saxony-Anhalt would today have a huge, dominating majority of representatives - on a minority of the vote - with the power to be as awful as they wanted.
Molly is right - democracy itself is set to be crushed if Reform sneaks a majority. The case for a switch to a proportional system, where they simply cannot do this with a twenty-something vote share, BEFORE the next election grows by the day, and the PM cannot keep ruling this out.
The wisdom of crowds: "When describing the economy as broken, most put its condition down to poor political priorities" As Green Party has long been saying: it is DESIGNED so a few profit and the rest of us pay www.newstatesman.com/politics/bur...
Andy Burnham can't explain the economy
Forget "broken" – the economy is "on its arse"

After the Belfast pogroms and racist mob attacks in Glasgow a few months ago I had to challenge the BBC on-air for describing those violent thugs as 'anti-immigration campaigners'.
Nick Robinson on Today is literally talking about ‘legitimate concerns’ after second night of organised men dressed in black - sorry ‘protesters’ - mobilising en masse in another littoral town. This is how street fascism is normalised

Despite a ceasefire, the killing continues. And Andy Burnham continues to send military planes to aid Israel.
I want to emphasise, because I don't think anyone in government has ever mentioned it in public, that this isn't just about shortfalls and supply glitches. The food system is highly vulnerable to the kind of collapse that almost toppled the financial system in 2008. www.monbiot.com/2023/03/09/t...
The Hunger Gap
A gulf in public understanding prevents us from seeing how and why our food supply is at risk.

It underplays the scale of potential shocks to our food supply, which could include systemic failure. Massive food producers hold too much power – and the regulators scarcely understand what is happening. Sound familiar, asks Guardian columnist George Monbiot

The government must know full well that many people have neither the space nor the money to store extra food in their homes. It is individuating responsibility for a collective problem. As usual, it is the poorest and most excluded who will suffer from it. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

As we come together this afternoon to mark the second anniversary of the road safety emergency, news break of yet another fatality. This time on a stretch of road awaiting average speed enforcement. We need more collectively urgency to address the everyday issue of Birmingham's road safety crisis.

This summer Britain burnt. 3000 people died from the heat. Yet this Government is drilling for more gas, despite scientist warnings & it won't make a difference to bills in the UK. We need to double down on renewables, not bend to the wishes of fossil fuel bosses. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Foreign donations are illegal, but British billionaires shouldn’t be able to buy influence either. 83% think the rich use donations for personal gain. Andy Burnham must keep his promise to cap them not backtrack yet again
Nigel Farage filmed celebrating illegal foreign donations Undercover footage reveals plot to break the law by funnelling offshore funds through a UK donor. Donations funded a series of widely reported polls boosting Reform ahead of the local elections channel4news.substack.com/p/exclusive-...
I can't remember a clearer smoking gun than that Channel 4 News footage. Nigel Farage and his senior aides all filmed discussing apparent plans to break the law by funnelling foreign money into British politics, plans which at least partly went ahead. A criminal investigation surely must follow
Fossil fuels have to stay in the ground if we are to have a liveable future. It’s time for this Labour government to rule out Rosebank and Jackdaw.

There is currently a majority in parliament to rejoin the Single Market. Lab, LDs, Greens, SNP, Plaid and some others have over 490 seats. That's 75% of parliament! A majority needs 326. So over 150 MPs from the Left/Liberal side could vote against the Single Market and we'd still have a majority!
