Green policies are tackling Scotland's rural housing crisis 💚 We gave councils the power to double Council Tax on 2nd homes ✊ In 2 years the number of those properties in Argyll & Bute has decreased from 3,235 to 2,805 📉 More homes for people who need somewhere to live 🏘️

The gushing tributes to Rod Little are a pretty stark reminder that we are so far away from being a society that takes violence against women seriously There's something particularly twisted about the tributes from those who have spent the last decade claiming to be the UK's only defenders of women

Liddle's caution for assaulting his girlfriend is the sort of behaviour that does not seem to bother successive editors of The Spectator. Witness the continued promotion and platforming of Taki, convicted of attempted rape.

Ian Fraser@ianfraser.bsky.social · 2d ago

There are many who have struggled to take former Spectator associate editor Rod Liddle at all seriously after he was cautioned for assaulting his then pregnant girlfriend, Alicia Monckton, on 5 May 2005.

Almost one year ago the Scottish Government supported Green proposals to boycott, divest from and sanction Israel. The vote passed in Parliament, a historic moment. So why have Ministers not done a single thing to implement it? www.thenational.scot/news/2642085...

Israel boycott failure 'undermining Scotland solidarity with Palestine', say Greens

THE Scottish Government's failure to implement a boycott of Israel is undermining its claims of solidarity with Palestine despite ministers…

I hope the newspapers and other media outlets who breathlessly printed uncritical headlines about the initial claim, backed up by the usual commentary from the usual suspects, give this analysis just as much coverage.

🚨 NEW: @danneidle.bsky.social claims Scotland’s 48% tax rate has lost public revenue. But is this actually true? My new deep-dive says no – Dan’s analysis doesn’t prove anything. It’s a long read, so buckle up 🧵

Not my game, not my ball etc but Monica Lennon is an ally to our trans community, understands the scale of the climate emergency and supports the basic principle of Scotland's right to self determination. Of course she's being attacked by the nastiest of yesterday's men.

In May, Scotland elected a record number of Green MSPs. We're already getting to work. We've fixed unfair gaps in free childcare, fought back against mega AI data centres, and called for a ban on US military flights in Scotland. Join the movement today: greens.scot/join

The latest from Reform's speaker at the Nazi rally: 'I saw nobody even remotely resembling a Nazi.' Did Cllr Dempsey put a blindfold on before sharing a stage with extremists who have openly praised Hitler? If Reform don't like being associated with Nazis, they should stop associating with Nazis.

Scotland stands with Palestine 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💚🇵🇸 Today I caught up with my friend Husam Zomlot, Palestinian ambassador to the UK. We discussed the need to uphold international law and take action against the UK companies, 'charities' & individuals complicit in Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine.

For the second time in as many months Nazis have rioted in Glasgow. They targeted anyone who isn't white, as well as those daring to stand up to them. Reform's Thomas Kerr claims 'Scotland is lawless'. So will he condemn the Reform councillor who spoke at this 'rally' with violent Nazis?

Genuinely extraordinary that the UK Government are using the experience in Scotland as a reason not to control extreme rent hikes. I had many constituents threatened with 20%, 30%, 40% rent hikes or more. They saved thousands of pounds as a result of the rent freeze I took through Parliament.

Zack Polanski@zackpolanski.bsky.social · 2w ago

Its not just me & Angela Rayner. If this Labour government rule out rent controls, a wealth tax, refuse to nationalise water companies, drill for oil and gas, continue to arm Israel - The country will be asking what's the point of a Labour Government? www.standard.co.uk/news/politic...

Some of the very worst cheerleaders of Israel's genocide in Palestine have been sacked by Burnham. Great, but plenty of others remain & the real test is whether government policy actually changes. Will the arms sales stop? The sharing of intelligence? The trade with illegal settlements?

Pride is a protest. This year that was doubly the case, with 'Glasgow's Pride Ltd' continuing to work with and accept sponsorship by companies directly complicit in Israel's crimes in Palestine. So we spent our afternoon with the No Pride In Genocide sit-in/picnic in the park 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇵🇸💚

Today marks the 90th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War. A total of 549 Scots volunteered to fight in Spain. Proportionally more Scots volunteered than from any other country. We still have a lot of work to do in Scotland to tackle fascism, racism, and all forms of discrimination.

There are 24 hyperscale data centre applications in Scotland. If they're all built they'll consume over 1.5 times the peak energy demand of the entire country. We urgently need a pause to develop a national approach that works for people and planet, not just tech billionaires.
