Back in the day, when we built stuff, RBNZ gave Govt special accounts so Govt could spend millions building houses etc without selling bonds to investors. RBNZ basically just gave Govt an overdraft. The ghouls hate this shit - where's the rent in RBNZ financing state houses for public use? [Ends]

We have all known managers like Luxon. They keep out of the difficult discussions and then pipe up once a decision has been made. They're not leaders. They don't inspire and, almost never have an original thought of their own. They're the beige brigade. They just do enough to get promoted.

Lessons for NZ - apparently datacentres in Ireland draw =23% of the country's power and household power bills have gone up 600 Euros in the last year as a result. Use urged from 5% of national electricity demand in 2015 to 23% in 2025. Forecast to exceed 30%

AoNZ’s population is roughly the same as Sydney. Our GDP is less than Sydney. But we’re trying to gold plate infrastructure across a country that is approximately 1,000% larger than Sydney.

#NZpol Former MP for the ACT Party, Damien Smith, wades into it, “To my former colleagues on the right: remaining silent on this is complicity. To NZ First: […] If you cannot represent all New Zealanders with dignity, then it is time to hand over the reigns” More in his piece ⬇️

First time IKEA buyer. Firstly tried to order online but 3 week delivery timeframe didn’t work so, off to IKEA we go on a fairly miserable Saturday. Parking was easy, showrooms are bloody cool and checkout was easy. As were the loading bays. Game changer. 1/2

In case this isn’t clear, all parties were working collaboratively to advance a new law on consent NOW. National withdrew from this collaboration in order to promise it would do this same thing AFTER THE ELECTION. Trying to slow down this change.

Anyone who pines for central Auckland to be like the ‘old days’ is looking through rose tinted spectacles. Mid-week, it was dead after 5 and the weekends featured bar life on Friday - Sa nights and the old Cook St and Vic Park markets. The rest of the city was closed.

RONS isn't Nationals kiwibuild moment - this is. "Transport Minister Chris Bishop now says the 10,000 charger target was actually an “ambitious stretch goal”. Last year, just 198 chargers were built. In the first four months of this year, the pace fell slower, to 31" newsroom.co.nz/2026/07/07/t...

The real problem with National's home solar loans policy

Comment: National's track record on renewables and EVs is to make big promises but drag its feet in Government. Will home solar be any different?

Good grief. This ticketing system is based on, and built by the same company as, the ticketing system London and NYC have had for a decade. I cannot fathom the waste that NZTA have been allowed to get away with on this project.

#TicketingNews: Following a scathing report, and with delays and cost pressures continuing to dog the National Ticketing Solution, NZTA Waka Kotahi sent officials on a $22,000, six-day trip to India to see the system for themselves. Via The Post: www.thepost.co.nz/politics/361...

It never won't be dumb for Auckland's planners to fight to preserve "the natural character of the coastal environment" when the costal environment in question was completely man-made.
