ICE has now spent over $2.2 BILLION on purchasing 4 private prisons from CoreCivic, with the company banking half a billion dollars on the most recent sale. Of course, ICE will not actually operate these facilities; CoreCivic keeps the contracts to run these places for the foreseeable future.

I want to believe that society has evolved to make billionaires unfuckable, and the fact that Musk is no longer photographed with famously beautiful women is undeniable, but the simpler (and therefore more plausible) explanation here might just be botched surgery theory

The collective ick emerging raises a question that wealthy men might prioritize over ethical perceptions: Have billionaires become categorically unfuckable?
This is the key takeaway: Haley Stevens got everything she could have asked for. AIPAC spent the most it ever has. The party pulled out all the stops. Millions were even spent to spread the false idea that the most popular president in modern US history endorsed her. And it still wasn’t enough.

Because if one campaign can show that *that* much money and *that* much old guard support doesn’t guarantee victory, it cracks open what can be imagined. It widens the aperture of what’s possible.

The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.
No matter the margin the story is that Haley Stevens got $70M of support, more than $30M of it from a single organization, and still lost.
