The Germanic ancestor of ‘thing’ and its cognates, such as German ‘Ding’ and Danish ‘ting’, meant “folk assembly”. The Latin ancestor of the Romance words for “thing”, such as French ‘chose’ and Spanish ‘cosa’, meant “legal case”. My infographic shows how their meanings shifted to “matter; thing”.

Unfallschwerpunkt Mülheimer Brücke. In den den letzten 7 Jahren gab es dort 20 Zusammenstöße mit Personenschaden - alle zwischen Radfahrenden. 7 davon mit Schwerverletzten. Der Seitenraum ist einfach zu eng für die Verkehrsmenge. Daten von fahrrad-unfallorte.de/05/3/15/karte
