At the moment, it was probably a re-release of Snow White when I was 5-ish and the Evil Queen was trying to push the boulder. More lasting, maybe seeing Batman (1989) at a drive-in in rural Virginia and then driving home at night as a kid. Felt very uneasy the whole ride.
In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

All "The Secret Life of Machines" episodes (youtube.com/playlist?lis...) are amazing but I've always kind of liked their sewing machine episode because of their human sewing machine: youtu.be/8lwI4TSKM3Y

Season 9 had some fine episodes, also some poor ones, but all of them had the hallmarks of the coming collapse (as did the latter production half of season 8). I weirdly recall actively disliking this one when first broadcast. I've softened a bit on it since.
29 years ago today, Homer Simpson had this exchange with a Khlav Kalash vendor. On September 21, 1997, #TheSimpsons episode “The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson” first aired on Fox.
Really they should have expanded the football field to match the Melbourne grounds. AFL field sizes change why not NFL. 🙃
Two recent AI food posters in restaurant windows that make me less likely to frequent them. At least the Chinese food one isn't too yellow-tinged.
The idea of AI “hallucinating” is one I wish I’d had!
BIG thanks to everyone who made my show a part of their visit to the 80th Howard County Fair! What a fun week ♥️
Fine I'll share @summoningsalt.bsky.social 's video about the world record history for it. Now almost 2 years old but still a great video www.youtube.com/watch?v=po9a...

The other day I was picking up Pizza from Pomodoro Pizza in Bethany Beach. The grandmother that runs it was very proud and pointed at the TV showing her grandson playing in the DE vs MD game in the Mid-Atlantic little League world series game

This is a possibility but honestly I think the correct solution is to use the James Bond name and get a director that's very good at making quick, good, and low budget action movies done. And make a ton, like the original novels. Oceans 11 but Bond, maybe.
Expectations for the next Bond are much too high and it’s impossible to please everyone. Here’s the solution: don’t cast the role. Shoot the entire movie from a first-person perspective, allowing the viewer to imagine that they themselves are James Bond
I'm not sure I have any receipts of how Humble Bundles used to do it, but this feels very, very low to the charity and the actual source of what they're selling than when they started... very sad.
Maaaaybe support this if it's only based on the box art only.

Quick thinking having a tablecloth handy. I didn’t even notice the twitching from that dead robot.
Based on the movies he's made, I think Christopher Nolan really loves his wife and kids a lot.
the most realistic scene in Jurassic Park is when two scientists make a questionable decision — traveling to an undisclosed location with a strange man — on the promise of three years of modest funding
I'm pretty sure it was Life of Brian when I was 7-ish.
Do you remember what *your* first R-rated movie was? I finally asked my mom (I couldn't remember), and she told me it was The Lost Boys when I was roughly the same age as my daughter (about 9). The movie traumatized her more than it did me, apparently
