Film junkie. Fake writer. Punthusiast. Mostly harmless. Forever oscillating between hopeful and cynical.

Random thoughts while watching all the Resident Evil movies: 1. Umbrella Corp loves branding everything. Monitors, knives, solar panels. They could make more on merch if they stopped killing everyone. 2. Waking up naked in an unfamiliar place happens so often that I now consider it a theme.

Was looking at the cast of The Odyssey and noticed that Sean Avery, like the actual greatest hockey super-pest who ever lived, the guy who the NHL had to literally make a new rule for, not just some random actor also named Sean Avery, is in the movie? What?

From the ADHD archives: Today, instead of listening to management report on Q4 KPIs, my brain hummed the theme song to 1993’s Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, a movie I haven’t seen or thought about in over 30 years.

Loved this so much that I immediately watched Damian McCarthy’s two other films, and while there’s an evident progression to his craft, the man has clearly always known exactly how he wants to tell a story. Caveat was good, Oddity was great, and Hokum is easily one of my favorite movies of the year.

Hokum (2026)

RIP Bobby Prince. this 1993 clip of him explaining the Commander Keen menu music is amazing. worth a watch even if you don't give a rip about Keen. source link below.
