Mainly just someone that enjoys systems. Most of what I'm known for online are sidequests to that. In tech I'm eza's primary maintainer and on NixOS's Steering Committee. Working in healthtech. Website: https://point.free GH: https://github.com/cafkafk
it’s pretty clear to me that the ceiling and the floor of software quality are going to start accelerating away from each other at the speed of light
ya i don't think people have thought about this fully solutions to problems becoming more bespoke, and private, isolated, and illegible to others does seem to imply problems that show up at scale (beyond the level where any individual with an agent could solve) will be harder to solve, not easier
i wonder if as the cost of shitposting goes to zero whether it will alive'n or death'n the internet
the problem is people are using public rust projects and not vagueposting good ones that can never see the light of day
nice argument claude, a bit on the long side, I'd add more salt and perhaps simmer a little longer, but that's just personal preference
The Master does not chase engagement. She posts incomprehensible nonsense at 3:14 a.m. and goes peacefully to sleep. By morning, twelve strangers are arguing about what she meant. She meant nothing. Thus her influence is limitless.
"But Chuddah what if" NO I said no. Attachment to the material world should never stop you from shitposting. It is only when you let go of the need to appeal to others that you can appeal to yourself and in doing so your posts will blossom. The posting husk may die but the shit will live forever.
"what if you get no likes?" what if a rose was called a shit, what if green was yellow, what if the birds sang in a different language? does it matter? do you think monks creating sand mandela care how many likes they get on social media before they brush their creations back into nothing?
everyone hates the edgy contrarians posting walls of text but we are the only people on the internet that are free

this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again
I tried this, got Kusanagi, then told it not to give me kusanagi, i kid you not, gave me ripley, then said that was also banned, got tony stark, banned that and got sarah connor.

space dementia chronically underrated muse song (as a post-ironic muse enjoyer)
This isn't political to be clear (just conceptual mapping theory), don't read it politically way. CAPITALIST DESIRE IS A CONTAGEOUS DISEASE. The metaphor cluster is surprisingly dense and complete.
Things go viral, you get the bug, then you consume because the products are sick, and the marketing is infectious. It's kinda funny how people view consumption as a disease. Someone should do a Lakoff style analysis of this. The embodied cognition of capitalism as disease or something.

fwiw, I've proposed to the SC/Board an Olive branch + grim trigger approach to Determinate System. I think we should try to create a stronger bridge with them if possible, but we also shouldn't tolerate e.g. plausibly deniable but problematic future behavior.
I am rooting for AGI so we no longer need to deal with RFCs and teams and governance and all this stuff and I can just say claude make flakes perfect make no mistakes or something
like we can't set the program for the Nix team, even if we have 2 SC members (3 if you count old ones) on the Nix team... for some reason. But like personally, I'd be fine using another functional package manager for NixOS if the nixpkgs team was okay with it. If Lix didn't hate flakes maybe? Alas
ngl I went for a walk and listened to the detsys podcast thing, and I almost didn't get annoyed but at the end I did get annoyed when they were acting as if the Steering Committee is the reason the Nix team is paralyzed, like Eelco was on the podcast isn't he literally the lead of the Nix Team??!?
someone should give me a lobste.rs account invite

I did not think it was possible to benchmaxx FelonyBench, but they've done it
they should have tried to pour gasoline on their pants and see what happens when they put a match to it - would be also a highly interesting scientific experiment!
I hate how NixOS just creeps up on me and then like haha what if 8 million different things all at once, like okay NixOS I get it but could I get at least get a warning
This Domen post is my fault. Can't comment on the actual validity of the claims he's making... Don't have enough context But completely agree with the headline: NixOS has a due process problem. I think that it's an issue that's "bipartisan" and something most of us can agree on, and worth changing

Wait didn't they just get a new CEO www.theverge.com/podcast/9743...
Bluesky’s new CEO wants to grow it all
Bluesky is many different things in a trenchcoat.

sad to see. this is just what happens to the commons if you don't fight for them: bluesky is planning to drop atproto, the decentralized protocol it claimed to be building. I guess we should all migrate to true decentralized alternatives. perhaps w social? threads? where will you end up?
