Bryan Woo gets a double play to finish off the seventh inning with the shutout intact. He's struggled more than the top line suggests (with trouble controlling secondaries), but he ultimately logged 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 3 HBP, 91 pitches/61 strikes. StatCast dashboard:

With Josh Naylor's double play in the second, he now has as many GIDPs as hits in situations with a man on first and less than two outs (16 each). 81 such PAs with a .222/.296/.319 slash line.

Something interesting about Julio Rodriguez' defense, and why his declining numbers this year might be a bit of a mirage: 2025 (160 games): 18 5-star chances, 22 3 or 4-star chances 2026 (103 games): 18 5-star chances, 10 3 or 4-star chances. More stars = harder catch

Emerson Hancock talked about his experience as a widely speculated trade piece at the deadline for the first time, as well as how to adjust to a new-look squad in August. "As we move farther from it, it's like, this is our group, and then we kind of keep pushing from there":

Re: the Taylor Ward for Hoppe/Moore/Kreiling There's definitely upside in Moore. According to Baseball America (ranked 24th in M's org midseason), he has a plus fastball, plus slider, above average sweeper, and average changeup. The big issue is control (16.3% walk rate in Double-A)

Albert Rusnak, who was wearing the captain's armband on Saturday, was asked about how this loss compared to the 5-1 rout in Seattle. While he noted the differences, the #Sounders losing streak weighed quite heavily in his response:

Brian Schmetzer was asked if the loss increased the urgency to add a new player to the roster. He said much of what he has already about making the right decision instead of a rash one, but he was quite heated and combative this time:
