This is a pretty good summary of why this stuff has zero appeal to anyone who actually enjoys making anything, and there will never be anything Ai companies can do about that. (Green absolutely torching his own credibility is just an astonishing unforced error. Write your own words!)

The specific focus in this video on the way these tools get under your skin and train you to depend on them is an aspect I personally find existentially terrifying. youtu.be/TtvICev9sBE?...

This is something I think I agree with, a parent knows what to help their kid out with and when to let them experience. I learned how to communicate, how to work with computers, and talk with people when I was dreadfully alone by bullies. I don't think I would be alive without internet strangers.

this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again

Heres a prompt for the fantasy / sci/fi writers. What are the most fantastical weapons or armaments that exist in your world that make everyone a bit uncomfortable? Who made them? Or what made them? What makes them so special? Are they cursed or blessed items? What are these unique traits?

Wrote the final speech of one of my characters. I hate making a character who is essentially my universe's version of Wash from Serenity and killing him there too. Also I can't wait to write a sequence where my MC blows up a dragon with his firepower.

Your standards for spending time on a website must be: -maximum user growth -seeing many things you find unpleasant or uninteresting -frequent harassment The fact that anyone wants to chat, express themselves, and laugh—ie seeking community, not arena combat or world domination—breaks some brains.

"Bluesky is a political echo chamber" okay but I'm mostly here to chat with fun internet people and post art and make jokes, I cannot stress how much I don't care

It will be worse than this! Most websites will be forced to ask you to send your ID to a third party surveillance service, adding a credit card won't be enough for most. Bluesky asks for your *social security number* if you live in Texas now, due to this shit. Call in, and kill it.

This will be the US if the SCREEN Act passes. Call your Senators before August 5 and tell them that you oppose the SCREEN Act, KOSA, and the KIDS Act. Use the official lookup tool at www.senate.gov/senators/sen... to find yours by state.

Putting aside the myriad issues of producing gen AI, that it's shown how many folks are incurious, lazy and utterly willing to sacrifice their ingenuity and creativity because they no longer seek to think for themselves is depressing. Truly, want more for yourself. Want better.

Yes, this is 100% about censorship in general, and the current anti-sexual weirdness that’s going on. But a paragraph near the end of the article is especially telling… ASMR is primarily created by women. Women doing anything will always be perceived by some as inherently sexual (excerpt in comms)

Sam Cole@samleecole.bsky.social · 5d ago

a bunch of popular ASMR artists lost their channels forever this week, after YouTube cited them for violating terms against "sexually gratifying" content: www.404media.co/youtube-asmr...

Being anti-AI isn't enough. You should be pro-art, pro-artist, pro-writer, pro-worker. Don't expend all your energy tearing people down. Spend it lifting people up instead. Make their voices so loud, their art so visible, it drowns out the slop.

I am urging liberals to please fucking stop using AI to make political images. I know you don't actually care, but it is a fascist tool that only serves to benefit fascism.

I hate that storyboards have become expected to be final clean animation poses with breakdowns in perfect perspective. this is not how it was supposed to be. let the animators animate! (I say as both a boarder and an animator)

Rachel Green@rachelgreenart.bsky.social · 6d ago

I love how the previous generations of storyboard artists were allowed to draw silly cartoon characters on flat wobbly backgrounds, but now we have to learn how to draw the most realistic anime proportions and perspective ever to even be considered for a job

If anyone is at gencon i must tell you 30 minutes from the city is literally the best ice cream innthe country called Graeters ice cream. They currently have a charity atm to help kids! Their ice cream is great highly recommend

The similarities between the early 1900s and right now is so stark. Corruption highest its ever been. Over spending, rich robber baron billionares who dont pay their fair share. Someone wake up teddy roosevelt mk2. History doesnt repeat, but sure as hell has a sense of humor

FYI: Even if I agree with your political or social message and goal, if you use an AI generated image to share it, I’ll block you. It’s not activism to use slop. It actually makes you a huge part of a different problem and I will block on sight when it comes to this. Every time.
