I'm currently #coding a #mud and am thinking about secret doors. I want both the kind that can be found by manipulating the environment ("pull sconce" or "push bookshelf") but also the ones like a passage hidden behind a waterfall. Read a post where an #sre discovered a recent incident had the same root cause as an earlier incident. Someone chimed in that they didn't have the same root cause: the root cause of the second incident was not prioritizing the fix from the first incident. #postmortem items need due dates!

I've been playing with Java over the past week. After years of semi-colonless languages, it feels a little strange, but there are parts of it I am really enjoying. Having a solid IDE which reminds me of features which I've forgotten--or which have been introduced between Java 8 and now--is nice.
Watching The Blob (1988) with my son (horror movies every Thursday in October). There are some surprisingly good effects in this for a late 80s film.
