After 10 years of moderating r/lfg, we’ve learned that finding a game isn’t the hard part. Finding the right game is. That’s why we’re building RollTogether: structured listings that make it easy to find games that fit your system and schedule. Follow for updates. #TTRPG #LFG #RPG

Writing a backend in #golang after coming from #django / #python is quite a shift. On one hand, there’s a ton I can (and am recommended to) do with just the standard library. On the other hand, testing requires a lot more boilerplate. Learning how to do that and be DRY is a challenge.

We heard you. We agree. In light of recent developments in physical media, GitHub is proud to announce that you can now obtain your public repo on CD-ROM. Keep it. Lend it to friends. Pass it on to your children. Your code is physically yours, forever. Until you lose it, let's be real. gh.io/cd

Ford has rehired hundreds of senior engineers after replacing them with AI backfired and has cost the company billions of dollars. AI adoption is blamed for Ford being the most recalled automaker in the U.S. with 51 recalls covering over 11 million vehicles in the first half of 2026 alone.

Having mostly done web app programming and scripting, it's been fun working on my current project where I get to deal with multithreading, deadlocks, etc.

I gave Jekyll a first serious shake recently and found I really like it. I want to compare with Hugo, too, but may move my blog over that way. Anyone have suggestions for exporting a Ghost blog to Markdown suitable for either of these?

So, haven't needed to do it in a while, but need to do it now: what are people using to build container images in places where docker isn't available (e.g. CI runners on #K8s) now that Kaniko is archived?

Had an idea for a kinda simple web app to help with something I wanted to do the other day. No auth needed. Landing page, creation page, and view page. Hardest part would be some CSS animations. Going to try to get it implemented this weekend. Stay tuned. #flask #python

Read a post where an #sre discovered a recent incident had the same root cause as an earlier incident. Someone chimed in that they didn't have the same root cause: the root cause of the second incident was not prioritizing the fix from the first incident. #postmortem items need due dates!

I've been playing with Java over the past week. After years of semi-colonless languages, it feels a little strange, but there are parts of it I am really enjoying. Having a solid IDE which reminds me of features which I've forgotten--or which have been introduced between Java 8 and now--is nice.

Watching The Blob (1988) with my son (horror movies every Thursday in October). There are some surprisingly good effects in this for a late 80s film.
