☃️While the rest of the world was watching the inauguration last Monday, I took a #snowday off with another @reservaylt.bsky.social board member and actually managed to just have fun out in #nature. Here's your reminder to step outside with friends if you get stuck in a news spiral. ♥️

Curious about this nature interaction on my winter walk (VA, USA)! Sapsucker holes absolutely dripping down a trunk, and ants hard at work in the damp on closer inspection. Tell me more, #naturalists!

Massive congratulations to @ipbes.bsky.social! #TransformativeChange Assessment helps 🌍 understand how we can live in #HarmonyWithNature. Great work by all! We at @unep.org are proud to host #IPBES. This Assessment will be an important basis to inform discussion & resolutions at #UNEA7 in 2025.

We get dozens of does through our yard, but lately this strapping 8-point buck has been hanging out! What a BEAUT! I'm pro-deer hunting in Virginia as a conservation strategy and greener way for folks to eat meat, I selfishly like that they have a tiny sanctuary when they step on our farm. 🥹♥️

The new IPBES report says what the @britishecolsoc.bsky.social and many others have been saying for a long time, that the crises we face (biodiversity, climate, water, health, food) are all interlinked and cannot be tackled in siloes. Crucially it also spells out these complex links + ways forward 🌍

British Ecological Society@britishecologicalsociety.org · 2y ago

Today sees the launch of the IPBES #NexusAssessment, a landmark global assessment of the interlinked crises of biodiversity loss, climate change, health, food and water. But what does it mean? Read on to hear from @carolinehowe.bsky.social (our new Vice President) & @sebdunnett.bsky.social 🌍🧪

I am horrified by FedEx's current commercial portraying a driver who killed a rattlesnake while delivering a package as a hero. I have written a letter (text below) to FedEx marketing officials and hope that you will do so as well, and will share this post to get more people involved. 1/4

Charles Dickens never heard the word "Dinosaur." Charles Darwin only heard it ten years before his death.

Natural History Museum, London@nhm-london.bsky.social · 2y ago

Before 1872, no one had heard of the word dinosaur. It was coined by the naturalist Richard Owen who combined two Greek words. Do you know what it means? 🦕 🧵

Dreamed last night in reels format. I was able to scroll through dream options and tap on the one I wanted to enter. Might be time for an IG detox? 🫠 #dreamjournal

They knew and the world is burning because of it. If you lost a home to climate catastrophe sue the living crap out of these guys who for years have known it would happen and have only lied and muddied the waters of scientific study to stop action. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024...

Come on, humans. @cocacolagb.bsky.social @nestlechocolatesbr.bsky.social you seeing this?

My student Griffin just sent me this profoundly sad photo of a Great Bowerbird bower. The painting on the right depicts what the bower should look like, filled with pebbles, shells, and bones. Nowadays, the birds use what they can most easily find in their surroundings: garbage.

So funny story... My bf's old X handle is now taken by someone who posts exclusively 🍆 pics. In discovering this, I have somehow corrupted my nascent bsky algorithm. ☠️ Someone plz tag some lovely nature accounts I can follow to retrain my feed!! 🛐 #help #algorithmproblems

I found my great great grandfather's #NaturalHistory book from 1886, and look at these luscious illustrations! We dont make #childrensbooks like this anymore!

Found these #BirdChildren on a wall in #Norwich, UK. Which one are you?

Meet my conservation fam! I started @reservaylt.bsky.social after seven awesome years as a kids books designer at #NatGeo. Wouldn't have left for anything else! 🫶

Reserva: The Youth Land Trust@reservaylt.bsky.social · 2y ago

Hey there! We're Reserva, a bunch of kids and young people from 30+ countries working to create protected areas in biodiversity hotspots. We mostly meet virtually to plan fundraisers for our projects, but we've gotten to know each other at school talks, social meetups, conferences, and expeditions!

Hello, new world! I'm Callie, a conservationist and photographer with a focus on engaging youth in the protection of threatened biodiversity hotspots. From rural VA, live in DC. I'll be treating bluesky like old FB/IG until it inevitably sells out and makes us post reels. Nice to meet y'all!

Do we have a verb for this yet? Blusking? Tweebling? Skwriting? Somebody get on this @dictionarycom.bsky.social @merriam-webster.com @bsky.app
