i still hate the doom "you control the buttons you press" tweet and that people repost it like it's real wisdom. fundamentally unserious approach to game design. that is actually very much what I buy a video game for. are the buttons fun to press. if there is bad button why did you put bad button

way too many people are console brained when it comes to pixel art it's not even funny. just saw someone try to say hexen should be played with a crt filter that makes it blurry when it's like, literally Not What Computer Monitors Looked Like

beat hexen deathkings of the dark citadel. pretty good expansion, i didn't get lost in it as much as in the base game lol, though i wish it had more new stuff in it besides just maps, there's not even any new music or anything

reading the doomwiki page for strife bugs while eating dinner and seeing how many things in that game do memory corruption if you look at it wrong and being like "fuck i gotta do this"

found an evil really old doom sourceport that used quake's software renderer, it's got dlights and particles and stuff it's actually kinda fucked up

i like doom 1 the way it is but i always thought the ideas from the doom bible where it was a lot more story focused was so cool, with the multiple playable characters and stores where you'd buy guns and hub areas and stuff. all the while there's a score counter and high scores lol

everyone talks about the intense metal tracks in the classic doom games but i haven't seen anyone talk about the remaining tracks which range from cool ambient to whimsical gay elf music to taco bell bathroom music
