AI (LLM based Gen' AI) is bad at distinguishing different sources of information.. Seems to be down to being taken-in by styles of communication (not surprising seeing as they are language models). This is a foundational weakness. And not the first. www.technologyreview.com/2026/07/30/1...
A fundamental flaw leaves LLMs strikingly vulnerable to attack
It makes it easy to trick them into doing things they shouldn’t, such as telling you how to sabotage an aircraft’s navigation system.

Second example received of a paper submitted to #BirdStudy written wholly by AI. Similar topic as before: birds in London parks, presumably fake authors with Pakistan affiliations/emails. A mess of AI text, American birds, and general slop. Easy to spot, but concerning that they're even trying.
Also concerning that the lead author has an institute webpage, ORCID and publication history - which all looks fake or papermill garbage. I doubt the person even exists.
We need to be urgently re-wetting woodlands, instead of maintaining the ditch networks in/around them. Though even that only buys time if it doesn't rain and you get multiple heatwaves every spring/summer.
