All the gear, multiple sunscreen bottles - it adds up for people and families who are already stretched thin with rising costs. In Australia - there are some public sunscreen dispensers! Public infrastructure could make a huge difference for people #AYACSM

A1: I think a lot about how our understandings of the different types of skin cancer are evolving along with the different ways that we can protect ourselves. I worry that this information is not making its way to the general AYA population #AYACSM

Thank you to everyone who joined in on the conversation. Your time, posts and comments are appreciated and important! We are looking for guest moderators for 2026 – please let me know if you are interested! Mark your calendars! Please tune in Tuesday, August 4th @ 8PM ET for our next #AYACSM!

We can always call them out and ask them what credibility they actually have; what degree do they have? What peer-reviewed evidence can they produce to back up their claims? We need to call them out at their own game. #ayacsm

It's important as knowledge dissemination is mandated for grants. But, in general, we do not know a lot about knowledge mobilization in our field (doing some work on that now!)! Dr. Teplinsky and I + others wrote an article on misinformation! #AYACSM

A2. Having enough qualified healthcare providers generating the real information. There are some good ones out there (Dr. Eleonora Teplinsky is great), but most providers are so busy and overworked that they don’t have time to creative credible content #ayacsm

…and AYAs are especially susceptible to this as this current generation of AYAs are digital natives; they consume all their info online…which opens up the door for misinformation #ayacsm

I think the misinformation fills the void of fragmented cancer care, at least here in US. Oncologists aren’t trained and don’t have time to talk about nutrition, exercise and mental health, so survivors will seek this info out wherever they can find it #ayacsm

A little late signing in… I’m Scott, I’m now officially an AARP AYA since I turned 50 (!!) in May. Long time testicular cancer survivor who also is an oncology physiotherapist in CT, USA . #ayacsm
