The latest Taiwan discourse is wild. Apparently to some the principle of self-determination of peoples only applies to groups who desire independence from a state in the Western power bloc, and if from a state not aligned with the West they're CIA plants or something and deserve to be crushed.
This explains quite a lot about why Gottheimer never fought against private carrier service cuts, while others did; he's taken money from them and now wants buses to have the right to idle around. Which he would have noticed is not required if he ever actually went to a bus terminal in his district.

If "expanding bus services to communities across the state" includes having NJT take over the many private carrier routes that never returned after COVID, this is huge. Large swaths of North & Central Jersey have no usable transit outside of weekday commute hours (or even at all) because of this.

Wait, that wasn't even intended to be regime change? We did a decapitation strike on Venezuela for the sole purpose of arresting Maduro on narcotics charges? This somehow makes the whole thing even less justified than previously thought possible.
It's... happening? Bad omen for 2026 if true. Those two days of hope were great while they lasted.
This is notably the same company that was recently caught falsifying public transit bus tracker data on a massive scale in order to run more profitable charters while still being paid for bus runs obligated under contracts.

Broadway IBOA is shutting down next month, with NJ Transit to take over the route. This is the last urban bus route controlled by a private carrier in the state. NJT is now one step closer to achieving ONE STATE, ONE AGENCY.

Minimum wage here is $15.49/hour. I do not see why a 17% higher minimum wage (a minimum wage differential of $2.20 USD per hour) should require a 218% hike in the price of four strips of bacon at a diner. ($5.50 at present)

New Jersey Transit is finally piloting its fare card, FARE-PAY, starting on the 19th. It's only available at Newark Light Rail stations or certain NJT park-and-rides for now, but it does fully support all bus and light rail fare products, including passes and 10-trips. www.njtransit.com/farepay

Good news for NJ Transit riders: Courtesy of new programming on some TVM's we now have confirmation that NJT's "FARE-PAY" farecards will be NFC cards like about every other sane place on the planet and not use barcodes or QR codes. Not a fan of the card graphic design or name, though.
it is the final day of (relative) sanity it only gets crazier from here on out
