Mefite, Beastie, Sara. She / her. I had a letter published in Cricket magazine in 1978.
The Mud and the Blood and the Tears -or- I Borrowed a Power Washer from the Tool Library: My Story
I work for a nonprofit. For staff appreciation week we’re asked to bring in our old org-branded swag (t-shirts, mugs etc) and put them in a free box for other staff members to pick from. So thrifty. So appreciative.
I can't tell if my indifference towards Jimothy is because I am old and out of touch, or if I'm drawing on the "I'm too cool for this mainstream piece of entertainment" snobbery of my youth.
I recaulked my shower, something I have never done before. I had to pay the ADHD tax and buy a 2nd tube of caulk (and of course found the 1st as soon as I got home). I keep standing in the bathroom and gazing at it. This must be how architects feel. I am so powerful.
Did Bieber lie to the FIFA people about what he was going to perform or did someone actually approve that mopey college boy with an acoustic guitar moment
I don’t think being a Buddhist monk is a job one should just take a stab at. So: quite a bit.
Thought experiment- if you were suddenly appointed to do your sibling’s job, how badly would you suck at it?
Me trying to get the roasted apple timing right in Legend of Zelda
"Okay, your first mistake here is not letting the fire die out before putting the meat on the grill, but I honestly think your main issue is that you put a bear in charge of making the food."
My latest thrift score for my presidential plate collection smells of cigarettes even after washing v well with soap and hot water. Don’t smoke, kids.
Biathlon but make it summer: bike to the archery range
Hey #quiltsky what are the designs on this piece of fabric I picked up from my quilt guild scrap table?
First day of everyone having their windows open and it seems one of my neighbors has picked up the oboe over the winter.
First salmonberry of the year (I’ve been inattentive)
A bee landed on my leg while I was biking on a trail today and first I nearly crashed from overreacting to it and then nearly crashed from laughing at my overreacting. Turns out yelling "GET OFF GET OFF GET OFFFF" doesn't make bees fly away.
Today I learned that the local children's hospital hires extra social workers for the ER in May, because it's such a rough month for so many people. Hey! It's not just you!
None of the ADUs in this Seattle Times article are used for housing. One’s a pottery studio. One’s a 2nd kitchen and occasional guest room. One’s a music room. One is for the homeowner’s parents to stay in “several months a year.” It’s like a parody of an article about life here.
I’m in the break room at work and one of the higher ups just saw me and happily said “you didn’t resign!” which makes me think I might have been giving off a bit of a ~mood~ yesterday.
There was an earwig in the newspaper this morning and I accidentally touched it and I think I should be able to call in sick today.
Seattle looking dramatic last night
So lost in this quilt pattern (and my unwise changes to it) that I had to break out the colored pencils to make sure it still makes sense. And also to check for accidental swastikas, a constant quilting problem.
Orange quilt: done! This one put up a fight but in the end I love it.
local.interurbancanopy.news/p/rich-tears... Let’s kill noxious weeds and tax the rich! If you want to tax the rich in Washington state, you should tell your legislators. The Balance Our Tax Code coalition has a handy Take Action page (balanceourtaxcode.com/take-action).
Today my coworker said they needed stitches but they couldn't afford to get them so we set up a lil' station in the staff kitchen and learned how to use hemostatic powder, so, that's how things are going in the US right now.
I’m as mad about ICE as the next person but this is going a bit too far for me
