Did you know that The Map Center is the only map store in the country that is directly above a brewery? Tomorrow at 6:30 at Discipline Brewing, Robert Isenberg talks about his new book about bike-packing Canada for Lonely Planet. So if you like beer, bikes, travel or beer, you should join us.

Mostly bikes, sometimes trains, occasionally buses. And I’m in a car more than I’d like. Providence, RI, USA.
To see this on a Monday evening. SMDH
Sweet is the day of sacred rest,
Maybe we should ban these dangerous ebikes until we can figure out how to regulate them.... oh wait... a person did this with their SUV? carry on

According to anti-cyclist replies, here's evidence that cars and bikes are equally dangerous: 🚗: They kill ~40000 people in the US annually 🚲: I saw a cyclist run a red light 30 years ago
Rhode Islanders considering voting for Gov. McKee: He "right-sized" RIPTA to save $4.4M, but it cost riders their hours, independence & jobs "I think what the people who have the power to make these decisions should really consider is what it's like for people who depend on this every single day."

If you missed the World Cup 3rd place game on Saturday, I highly recommend watching the 25 minute game highlights on Tubi. Even if you watched it live, watch it again. It was a wild game with 10 total goals scored. You can hear how much the announcers loved it too tubitv.com/movies/20034...

Finally filled up a journal so I’m upgrading to these for the next few months
A small thing I've found helpful: In January 2021, I started keeping a bullet point journal. Just a couple things that happened on that day. Sometimes they are personal, other times they are from the news. It's useful to look back at all the stuff that happened and a few of my thoughts at the time
I always loved how Julian's marked their wall after the second time a driver crashed into it
I just had a brilliant idea for a local climate art installation project way too late, NYSERDA already funded a mural 😝 paint a line around these bricks that are a different color because deranged seniors keep driving into the side of the post office QR code for audio art about car dependency
Just a reminder: if I'm killed by a driver while I'm walking or biking, the local safe street advocates have my permission to use my death as a bludgeon against electeds who have made insufficient progress on safer streets
Statement from @bikeboston.bsky.social, @streetsboston.bsky.social, and @walkmass.bsky.social about Louisa Gag, who was hit and killed by a driver today. Yet another life taken because our society and leaders refuse to address the destruction wrought by cars.
So, the story of how Nina Totenberg decided to report that Alito was retiring is batshit bonkers and raises a million more questions than it answers. Via NPR's Public Editor: www.npr.org/sections/npr...
NPR "published this story in error." It was clearly a pre-write. The hosts said it on the air near the end of their coverage as well. I wonder if somebody hit the publish button too early?

Let’s put a couple of these on Benefit Street! Our most historic street shouldn’t be a shortcut for car traffic
I like traffic filters on residential streets and I cannot lie.
Something I haven't seen addressed that is a result of car-bloat: Now that almost all cars sold in the US are crossover SUVs or larger, the height of those vehicles blocks you from seeing pedestrians, sedans don't. Crossovers are about 5'5", taller than the average woman. Sedans are about 4'8"
Renowned historian Gordon Wood was walking across a supermarket parking lot when a car driver struck and killed him. Federal officials claim that crashes in parking lots and driveways don't count as traffic fatalities. As a result, they're uncounted and often ignored. Me, in Bloomberg (gift link)
Weird that our IG reel of Deer Tick playing the "biggest little desk" concert has over 20k views while the YouTube video of the full concert has about 1k. I mean, algorithms and all that but... you should check out the full video. These guys write some great tunes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=egfJ...

SUVs and Trucks may kill 200-400 more people a year than regular cars, but it also helps a lot of people feel big and intimidating, so, it;s impossible to say if its bad or not, www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

I watched a guy pull his cybertruck into an alley in downtown PVD, open one of the Dumpsters and then empty the contents of the truck bed into the dumpster. Looked like he’d just moved out of a place. Felt like I was watching one dumpster being emptied into another
Respect to the person who altered all the Gensp*rk ads on this NYC subway car like they were a 1998 culture jammer
I would vote for a Logan’s Run law in Seattle, even if the age cutoff took me along with these weirdos.
