The thread below👇 features the poem The Lane by Edward Thomas, a beautiful and suitably strange reflection on the uncanny interpenetration of the seasons and how this can seem to suspend time itself. I felt impelled to read and record it for #poemsaloud #poetrycommunity
One mile. Roughly speaking. ONE MILE

Prose poems are an interesting departure for Heaney. Stations is less gnomic & perhaps of more autobiographical immediacy than Geoffrey Hill’s Mercian Hymns, which Heaney admired. But a comparable spareness in Heaney’s pieces creates a similar feel of historic fragments, loaded with mythic resonance
Here’s the start of my poem See a Wish published in the gorgeous anthology Cosy Poems from Macmillan, now out in paperback. I really recommend. Many thanks to Gaby Morgan 🌺

Tossing out a reminder that I write books and this is one of them. 📚💙
In this political climate, where so many of us are idling on the edge of despair, of shutting down, of wondering what more we can do, I find myself needing to consistently remind me that ART in and of itself IS RESISTANCE.
Thank you for this lovely review of The Amygdala Safari @valpoet.bsky.social it has really warmed my heart. 🩶
