On Sept. 22, @cascadepbs.bsky.social announced it would eliminate its News and Investigations teams, laying off 9 @newsguild.org journalists. Here’s how you can help: www.gofundme.com/f/support-ca...
We’ve been bargaining with @cascadepbs.bsky.social since they announced layoffs last week, fighting for more severance for our members as they head into a brutal journalism job market. So far the company has refused to offer more than a week of severance beyond their contractual requirement.
It’s difficult to find the words to express how our unit is feeling right now, but we’ll take a stab at it: shocked, disappointed, angry, gutted. @cascadepbs.bsky.social’s choice to eliminate long-form written reporting is a massive loss for our community in a critical moment. tinyurl.com/LayoffFund

We did it!!! Yesterday the unit voted unanimously to ratify a new contract that will immediately secure hardworking journalists at @cascadepbs.bsky.social an average raise of 6.76% and an average 18.3% wage increase over the course of the four-year contract.
Big news: After nine months of fighting for a #faircontract we’re happy to report that we reached a tentative agreement at the bargaining table with @cascadepbsnewsroom.bsky.social today!! Now we will bring the proposed contract to the unit for a ratification vote.
We were back on the info picket line yesterday following a productive bargaining session with @cascadepbs.bsky.social. They finally heard us and are moving on wages — but not enough, considering they spent $2M on executive compensation in 2024.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our picket outside the @cascadepbs.bsky.social offices last week! You can read more about it and everything that led up to it here: current.org/2025/04/casc...

💌 You’re invited! 💌 We are holding our next informational picket outside the @cascadepbs.bsky.social office at 316 Broadway on Thursday, April 17, 12:30-1:30.
ALL of the video editors in our unit — yes, all of them — have been nominated for NW Emmys!! 🎉
We came to the table ready to make a deal during mediation on Wednesday. @cascadepbs.bsky.social came unprepared, unserious and totally unwilling to move. This is not what bargaining in good faith looks like. (1/4)
Bezos and WAPO are refusing to recognize the tech workers' union at The Post. So, @wapotechguild.bsky.social & @postguild.bsky.social joined together today to rally outside HQ and show management they're united in this fight! 💥
THANK YOU SO MUCH to all the community members who came out to join us on the info picket line outside @cascadepbs.bsky.social today. (1/4)
☎️ ring ring! If you’re a @cascadepbs.bsky.social donor, you might be hearing from us today. We’ve been calling donors this weekend to tell them about our contract fight and ask for their support as we head back to the bargaining table next week.
📣 💌YOU’RE INVITED! 💌 We are holding our next informational picket next week and all our readers, listeners, viewers, donors and all other members of the public are invited to attend in solidarity.
🚨Unfair labor practice alert🚨 Over the weekend the union filed a ULP complaint against @cascadepbs.bsky.social for preventing us from passing out union literature in non-work spaces, which is a protected activity under the National Labor Relations Act. (1/4)
The @cascadepbsunion.bsky.social is back on the march holding another lunch time info picket. And today we’re joined by 9 community members (not to mention all the honks in solidarity) who know Real News costs Real Money! We’re gonna keep fighting til we get the fair contract we deserve.
This morning we sent out emails to @cascadepbs.bsky.social donors telling them about our contract fight and asking for their support in it. (1/3)
🗣️ Can you hear us yet @cascadepbsnewsroom.bsky.social ? Back on the info picket line last week. We won’t stop until we win. #faircontractnow #labor #unionstrong
We delivered a petition to our management yesterday that included over 500 signatures of community members that support our efforts for a fair contract. We’ve been bargaining for eight months. The time is now.
Our CEO made $471,105 in 2023, nearly 7X the average Cascade PBS journalist’s salary. His 2023 bonus alone would have made him one of the highest paid workers in the newsroom today. Our union members are struggling to make ends meet. @cascadepbs agree to a #FairContract. Sign our petition. 🔗 in bio
Yesterday we used our lunch break for an informational picket while @cascadepbsnewsroom.bsky.social was giving donors a tour of the building. We hope they can hear us loud and clear: We’re not going to stop until we get the #FairContract we deserve.
