The latest version of Case Viewer (www.caseviewer.app) includes a beta of an integrated chatbot that's pretty distinctive and genuinely useful (IMHO). It reads the case, answers directly based on the text, and scrolls you to the relevant passages. @caseviewerapp.bsky.social

it's so much more enjoyable to read cases on Google Scholar than on Lexis or Westlaw. what I wouldn't give for a simplified, lower-tech legal search tool with the same *resources* of Lexis and West but without the bells and whistles.

Here's a quick video showcasing the new Table of Contents feature in Case Viewer version 1.2 — now available for Mac, iPad, and iPhone (www.caseviewer.app). It extracts the opinion's actual heading structure, uses an LLM to make descriptive section labels, and maps the argument structure too.

Alright, one evening of preparing slides, and I am in love with @caseviewerapp.bsky.social (Case Viewer). Easy to find "that ridiculous Kennedy quote," "that awesome Kagan quip" and also "that cool chart from the slip op," and quickly throw them into a PPT. Thanks @beidelson.bsky.social!!

Case Viewer is one of those tools you didn't know you needed. Apple-only for now, but it brings a simple, clean interface to reading case law, and it's finally out of beta! We're proud to have our APIs and data integrated into the tool and we encourage folks to give it a try!

Some of Case Viewer's features are powered by the amazing data from @free.law (CourtListener). Two examples: 1. a D.C. Cir. case with embedded oral argument audio & info on all the participating judges. 2. An 8th Cir. slip opinion filed today and not yet available in almost any other database.

My favorite legal research tool is now in the App Store. Seriously, if you use a Mac or iOS, check it out. Case Viewer *enormously* simplifies and improves the experience of researching freely available caselaw.

I'm biased, but if you're a lawyer and use a Mac, I think Case Viewer is now pretty clearly the best way to read cases. Fast, frictionless, and increasingly packed with bells and whistles. Try it out it (and pay only what you think it's worth) at caseviewer.app!

Version 0.9.9 adds dark mode, support for Safari-style tabs, and support for CourtListener from @free.law as a data source (substituting for Caselaw Access Project, which has sunset). Other recent additions include hyperlinks & tooltips in reporter PDFs, sidebar, & more. Download at caseviewer.app!
