Why should we compensate failing companies when they don't deliver the services we all rely on? They took the risk - they should pay the price.

Imagine UEFA's statement about FIFA's plans to sell off the World Cup, but replace all the references to FOOTBALL with WATER Can you now see the absurdity of water privatisation? Andy Burnham has called the FIFA president to go. But our water is still in private hands: vist.ly/5d5x8

The moment external investors acquire ownership interests in water, water changes forever. Commercial return becomes a permanent obligation. Investor expectations become a daily pressure. From that moment onwards, every decision on the infrastructure, every decision on sewage dumping and every decision shaping the future of water is no longer driven by what best serves the public, but by what best serves shareholders. This model has no place in water. Britain's future cannot be dictated by the expectations of those whose first duty is to maximise financial return. Nor can the interests of households, communities and the environment become surordinate to investor returns. Britain cannot mortgage its future for financial gain. The public.'s position is clear. We will never lend this model our legitimacy. No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation.

Dangerous nonsense from Thames Water's boss on #r4today The truth: The shareholders don't need compensation, they've WALKED AWAY Water doesn't compete for budgets, YOU pay for every penny of investment - right now privatisation is wasting 1/3 of your bill PUBLIC OWNERSHIP NOW

Burnham won't be able to change our social care system until he fixes one thing: private companies sucking profit out of this essential public service. Councils spend £34.5bn a year on care, but this cash is being sucked out of the system as profit and investor returns. 1/3

"If Thames Water collapses into special administration, we can fight to bring it into permanent public ownership, setting a precedent for the rest of the water industry to follow." Our piece laying down the path to permanent public ownership of Water in England, in today's Labour Outlook.

What Next in the Fight for Public Ownership of Water – We Own It

If Thames Water collapses into special administration, we can fight to bring it into permanent public ownership, setting a precedent for the rest of the water industry to follow.

Andy Burnham has promised to bring in a new system of social care. But the government needs to address the desperately important issue of who owns and runs it. Privatisation has been a failed — we’re paying more for worse care while private equity sharks walk away with huge profit margins.

112 MPs have called for special administration of Thames Water. >10,000 members of the public have signed the petition calling on you to bring it into public hands. You have said this is what 'should' be done. Will you make good on your promises, @andyburnham.bsky.socia? vist.ly/5cmb7

Thames Water's creditors are desperately trying to ward off the company being taken into special administration Here is why their latest proposal is nothing but a stalling tactic
