First Plato—now Dr. Peterson—out the door at Texas A&M! Who’s next? Here is Dr. Peterson’s letter of resignation, which he just shared with the faculty.

Texas A&M claims it has “seamlessly completed” its Spring 2026 course review. That statement is false. Multiple courses addressing race, gender, and sexuality are still under review with faculty facing pressured to censor well into the semester. Texans deserve the truth, not spin.
all i'm saying is that there were better options

Working on course notes and has any result ever been better named than the Law of the Unconscious Statistician? Absolute joy to write and so aptly named.
This is a gross affront to free speech, academic freedom, and what’s left of A&M’s reputation as a good university. Shameful behavior president.tamu.edu/messages/an-...
An Update from President Mark A. Welsh III | Office of the President | Texas A&M University

This professor did nothing wrong, which is why the university president is using this weird and nonsensical “doesn’t match the course description” language. TAMU is clearly in the wrong here in terms of 1) the law, 2) academic freedom, and 3) just plain doing the right thing.

California Senator Alex Padilla was physically assaulted by federal law enforcement and detained for attempting to attend DHS secretary Kristi Noem's press conference in LA.
This is disgusting. If this is how they treat Alex Padilla, a United States Senator, how do you think they’ll treat you?
My hot take is that this trend is a direct result of years of jokes about English teachers finding symbolism in text. These made whole generation think that all media is actually only surface deep and anything else is random, made-up bull shit. Authors adopted accordingly. Example:
I genuinely think this particular aesthetic trend (Good Art Is Didactic And Also Assumes You Are Very Stupid) is a non-trivial source of anti-woke backlash, like unironically. It is really really annoying, and I think it has provided wedges by which anti-wokes can radicalise nerds.
At school, a classic Apple 2e (this says more about my school’s finances than my age) At home, a Triumph-Adler (see picture)
Being ordered to deploy military against American protesters strikes me a no-brainer order for military to refuse. The fact that there hasn’t been reporting of refusals or terminations is very troubling.
I rarely post anything from teaching evals, and of course there are lots of problems with the whole medium, but this one from a grad student helped make me feel like I’m actually doing something positive here
