Eternally curious to the point of being annoying, or so I’m told. Aim to be encouraging Please don’t give me an excuse to bite you

Offsider’s Frog Prince birthday Take 3 (final) Yes, I went full OTT this year.Too many mates have dropped off the perch in the past few years, I figured I could be off the planet by the time I got around to gifting all the froggies so might as well ‘go hard’ Meet Sir Basil the Kitsch

China model of a standing frog knight, complete with doublet, hose, crown & sword. Hes standing on a green square box… It’s supposed to be a pill box & does open, but is much too small to be practical
The overall effect is kitsch to say the least 😂
Offsider first put him on a shelf in the kitchen in front of a packet of Basil seed, so of course he has acquired the name 😂

For teachers We love & remember those that encouraged us Thank you This portrait is exhibited as part of the Young Archies at NSW Art Gallery The young artist’s statement caught me as much as the, very accomplished, portrait

The artist’s statement reads as follows

“Since graduating, my high school memories have begun to blur and fade. Yet one remains clear: bring in the English classroom. In this portrait, I aim to capture the presence my English teacher brought to class. Her warmth, enthusiasm and patient dedication created the best lessons I’ve ever had. This portrait honours a teacher who has left a lasting impression when so much else has softened with time.”
This is a small and delicate, photo realist head and shoulders portrait of a young woman who is looking towa
rd the light that is coming from the right
Her delicate and serene features are bathed in golden light

I have never been shown one advantage of using AI to write or research. Every single example of someone saying how they find it helpful is accompanied with "But make sure you check it because you can't trust it". Enshittifying your writing and research should not be an aim.

Another one bites the dust. Just *do the work* you lazy poseurs. You want all the laurels of scholarship and publication without the labour.

Those of you that remember me tracking down vintage ‘Frog Prince’ stuff for Offsider will know that I grabbed this ‘card jigsaw’ with both hands! Big birthday for Frog Prince today … there is a theme brewing … shall update as we go over the weekend (😉no prizes for guessing what)

Small jigsaw puzzle in vintage art style depicting a frog wearing a crown sitting on a toadstool surrounded by bulrushes
He is carrying a bunch of flowers
A smiling sun sines brightly in a blue sky
‘Hoppy Birthday to you’ is printed above
A small version of the puzzle in card form lies below a present wrapped with teal and gold ribbons Gold cymbidiums orchids and very small wattle
(Took me ages to find something that would go with that ribbon, he he he… and yes, men like getting flowers too!!

A tip from the wise. Don’t throw away old letters from your loved ones. One day you’ll rummage through a drawer and find a letter from your Dad and smile/sob and it’ll mean the world to just see their handwriting. Trust me.

Friendly suggestion to my fellow accounts with decent followings: it is a GREAT time to start a weekly art show with your account to boost indie artists/crafters. Everyone is struggling due to AI and Etsy becoming a toilet. We can't magically fix everything but we can help some individuals.

Once a quirky bastion of amateur vulva jewelry and pet portraits, Etsy is now deluged with mass-produced goods and AI knockoffs. Some customers don’t seem to mind.
