#BREAKING 🚨 Labor in their draft 2026 platform have replaced their previous statement of belief 'that there should not be poverty in a country like Australia' with a 'recognition' the social security system should support 'better health and wellbeing'.

A fair social security system

91. Labor believes in a strong, adequate and fair social safety net and that there should not be poverty in a country like Australia. Labor is committed to a social security system that keeps people out of poverty, whether they are unemployed, working age, escaping family or domestic violence or in retirement.A fair social security system

90. Labor recognises that a strong social security system supports not only economic security but also better health and wellbeing, and that when people have the means to meet their basic needs and make choices about their lives they experience stronger social and health outcomes.

ALP conference somehow even more sauceless than everyone thought it would be this year. Not you, internet smart guy. You already knew it would be bad. I mean even among attendees who had properly calibrated their expectations to 'zero'.

Holiday in the climate emergency. No that’s not AI or edited, just a snapshot I just took with my phone on Lacanau beach in France. What future will this boy grow up in? It is in our hands, but time is running out.

home affairs bypassed the commonwealth grant process to give executive council of australian jewry $209 million dollars to use however they wanted with no accountability?!

Appearing on Friday, Amy Dyde, assistant secretary in the Department of Home Affairs, said Jewish communities had experienced an increased risk environment since the attack where community centres and places of worship were increasingly targeted by antisemitic attacks.
She said five protective security grants had been delivered by Home Affairs from 2023 to 2029, totalling at just over $209m. The funding was provided to the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ). Asked why that was an appropriate way to allocate the grants, Dyde said:
I1 In October 2023, there was an urgent need to roll out immediate funding to the community, noting the increased security risks. Commonwealth grants can typically take ... many months to develop. And it was determined that utilising the ECAJ to administer that funding would, one, be more expeditious for the community, but two, more importantly, the ECAJ have a very important role i sitting across the Jewish community ... It's also important to give the Jewish community autonomy over where that funding is utilised within the community.”

Here's my story from Pine Gap. "The fight to end the US military occupation of Australia (and the entire world)" It's a photo-essay this time because I took a tonne of pics, the country being this stunning, to help convey the Arrernte's struggle.
