Nearly hit a deer on my way to Spanish class this evening. Spanish class is community ed at WASHBURN and the deer was crossing LYNDALE AVENUE. I will grant you the habitat of the creek right there, but it was quite a surprise and truly a near miss.

A success: called LOCAL appliance shop’s repair dept to find a LOCAL source to pick up a fridge door handle (which is a real point of failure for this fridge and not the only one!). Spoke with two nice guys in town and a nice national rep who would ship the part. Love talking on the phone. :)

Second dose of Shingrix this morning. Am hydrated and Tylenol’d up; have taken a walk and set two Gatorades to chill. Going to work later! Hoping this will be easier than the first time! (do not tell me otherwise, I can be a sweet summer child for a few more hours)

(I can’t help it, I just find this hilarious)

I cried at my son’s first trombone lesson (he was 11 and not quite big enough to throw the slide out to the furthest pitch), in which he played Hot Cross Buns for his new teacher. I am also a proponent of giving a kid a (decent-quality) harmonica for Christmas :)

Iam a professional musician. I adore beginning orchestra and band concerts. Love them. My kid's first orchestra concert, one of the pieces was literally just them playing a Dmajor scale and I cried. That said: I could. not. handle. teaching. recorders.

Before, during, after. (Apple Bundt Cake from Sally’s Baking Addiction.) I got this Bundt pan for Christmas (as a replacement for the much crummier one I’d had since my wedding) and this is actually my first time using it! That baking spray with flour in it is MAGICAL.

I’m not paying terribly close attention, but this does match the pattern I’ve seen for the entirety of my marriage. Eldest has adopted a fatalistic attitude about it, which I think makes her a true MN football fan.

If you're new to the Minnesota Vikings, they'll squeak out questionable wins until a 9-2 record, make you think they're for real, then finish 10-7, make the playoffs on a tiebreaker, then lose in a way that has never happened before.

We have not turned on the furnace yet (inexplicably yesterday it got WARMER inside my house), but I did bust out the first handknit wool socks of the season today! (Yarn is Malabrigo Sock, pattern is Yarn Harlot’s Plain Vanilla Sock with some added ribbing across the instep)

Who here has experience with the Riverview from a limited-mobility/accessibility perspective? I want to take my FIL (a larger, creaky-at-best 73yo) to Coyote Vs Acme, but I’m wondering if I should pick a theater with the fancier seating to ensure he’s comfortable.

In case you have cilantro or parsley still hanging out in your fridge (or your garden), I present you a chimichurri recipe. This one is all cilantro; most are half parsley and I imagine you could do all parsley if you don’t care for cilantro. I love it. braziliankitchenabroad.com/cilantro-chi...

Cilantro Chimichurri Sauce Recipe

This cilantro chimichurri sauce recipe has a ton of uses, especially topping grilled meats. This simple recipe will add a major boost of flavor to any dish.

I am down here on the floor with the big books that no one ever touches. They are hard to use (though great in some ways for a Storytime setting), and they are going to continue to stay here in the workroom, but there are some GREAT stories here.

Today’s letter of the day for Storytime was E (for egg, eyes, elephant, emu, and exit). Last night I dreamed about trying to explain “Exhausted” to preschoolers and now my Energy is Eliminated. Time to Eat, probably.

When your farm share starts giving you butternut squash (mine already did), you can use that in any recipe for pumpkin bread, muffins, or even pie. Cut in half, remove seeds, coat with oil and lightly salt. Roast with cut side up at 425 for 45 minutes to an hour or until soft; let cool and mash.
