Temos!

Well, forget what I said, turns out you can process marsrover images on the train too :) There is a super faint smudge where comet 3I/Atlas should be. The new orbit parameters in Stellarium are a pretty good match. 🔭 #3iatlas

Paul Dirac (1902, discovered the relativistic equation for fermion wave functions), Ernest Lawrence (1901, invented the cyclotron), and Roger Penrose (1931, developed global view of spacetime and much of what we know about spacetime singularities) were all born #OTD. Pretty good day for physics. 🧪 ⚛️

A black and white photo of Paul Dirac in his early 20s. He is looking directly at the camera, and while not smiling he does look pleased. Dirac is wearing a dark jacket and white collared shirt. His tie sports a stairstep strip pattern. Dirac has a thin mustache.A black and white photo of Ernest Lawrence working on part of his cyclotron. Despite working in the lab he is wearing a pinstripe suit with a double-breasted jacket -- a very formal affair by today's standards, totally lab-to-evening wear. There is a white handkerchief in the breast pocket of his jacket. Lawrence his looking away from the camera, at the apparatus that he is working on. He is wearing glasses and his hair is slicked back. The apparatus appears to be two large cylinders (probably supporting magnets) with machinery situated between them.A color photo of Roger Penrose, presumably from the late 60s or early 70s based on the butterfly collar of his light green shirt. He is also wearing a dark sport coat. His head is tilted slightly, looking at the camera. There are sun-dappled tree branches and foliage in the background.

Big day for the matriarchy! 🥳 Huge congrats to the awesome Prof. Doughtery, lead on the Jupiter-bound ESA JUICE mission & STFC Exec Chair. If anyone's confused on the astro royal hierarchy: Michele and I are the astro equivalents of 🇬🇧Westminster and 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Holyrood 🤗 ℹ️: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... 👩‍🔬🔭🧪

O Telescópio Espacial Hubble fez sua primeira observação do cometa interestelar 3I/ATLAS. A cabeleira aparece claramente na imagem capturada com a Wide Field Camera 3, evidenciando a natureza cometária do objeto. imagem: STScI/HST/D. Jewitt. Processamento: Wandeclayt M./Céu Profundo

Physicist Kenneth Bainbridge was born #OTD in 1904. He used mass spectrometetry to verify Einstein’s mass-energy equivalence, built Harvard’s cyclotron, and directed the Manhattan Project’s Trinity Test. After that first atomic blast, he said to Oppenheimer “Now we are all sons of bitches.”

Black and white photo of a man in gray pants and a white button-down shirt working on an apparatus. His sleeves are rolled up, and dark tie is tucked into his shirt so it won't get caught in the machinery.
