Michael Coyle@oplopanax.ca · 2w agoThis is Mike's partner Sylvia Fuller - I am so sorry to say that Mike was found unresponsive while mountain biking yesterday and died despite the best efforts of other riders and Squamish EMS. Thank you to Squamish Search and Rescue for carrying him out and taking care of our dog. We are shattered

*sigh* If your Kickstarter video/image is AI, I won't back it. If your book has an AI cover, I won't read it. If you're a public supporter of AI use for creative work, I will unfollow you. I cannot stress enough how offensive I find AI use in the arts. It is outright theft, it is lazy, it is gross.
This is what social media is meant to be about.

Watching the Artemis II launch with my wife, and her sister over video chat. Oh, and our cat. Best wishes to the American and Canadian crew!
I had a great time. I'm just busy catching up on things and energy but I hope to write about this little trip to the coast and the memorable, fantastic concert; not sure if I'll share it or if it will remain in my journal but I will probably share some thoughts and photos.

I have enough to occupy my time that, when I do buy one, I won't ever have to settle for playing a video game in which the company uses AI script reading instead of paying for a voice actor. They may think they're saving money by not paying actors, but they're also losing sales from people like me.

Today I had to login to Twitter for the first time in years and holy hell is it a nightmare these days. Like, I thought Facebook was bad for AI, bots, hatred, and inflated engagement but goddamn the feed it gave me was utter nonsense. I just don't get the appeal of that.
