4️⃣0️⃣ years ago, I needed to finalise the name of a new magazine for supporters of Wycombe Wanderers. A friend reminded me of a passage in the 1957 handbook by Ted Rolph recalling 'Chairboys' as a nickname used in the early years of the Club but had fell out of use post WW1...

4️⃣0️⃣ years I was thinking of a name for a new magazine for supporters of Wycombe Wanderers. A previous publication by the Supporters Club (circa 1978) was called 'Blues News' but I wanted something less generic. One thing I definitely wanted was reference to the Gasworks End...

Bigger problem seems to be the patchy, scattergun and inconsistent recruitment lending a temporary feel to the squad despite huge outlay. The big signings of last year being offloaded and dumped back on long-term loans while we rinse and repeat suggest rice should have questions to answer not duff

🟥 Michael Duff has been charged for misconduct following Wycombe Wanderers' EFL League One match against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday 1st September. It's alleged that the manager used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official at full-time.

The idea for an independent magazine for supporters of Wycombe Wanderers came towards the end of the 1985/86 season. It was prompted by a few other club mags plus the loss of any serious non-League news publications. Those below had all ceased by 1985. Next, it needed a name 🤔
