Had a great day out celebrating @archaeologyuk.bsky.social Festival of Archaeology with the @wildlifebcn.org Youth Rangers today at Blow's Downs SSSI where we talked about 6,000 years of human impacts on nature and the landscape. Whilst out there on the chalk grassland, I spotted something lovely

Join Natural England for a rare opportunity to visit the largest hillfort in the Chilterns, which lies hidden beneath a plantation at Hexton. We'll explore its ancient history and its exciting future in the North Chilterns Landscape Partnership's plans for landscape-scale nature recovery. Walk is 1.5 miles/2.4 km.

Fascinating world of ancient #glass: an amazing #Roman glass garland bowl, that represents a peak of Roman glassmaker’s skill at producing vessels. Very few ancient vessels were made of large sections or bands of different colored glass, and this is the only known...🧵1/2 📷 Metropolitan Museum

The picture shows a Roman glass bowl consisting of four large segments of colorless, purple, yellow, and blue glass. Applied to the interior of the bowl at the center of each segment a hanging garland.
