This game was won when Toronto decided to intentionally walk Alec Bohm. Had they left the game up to him, he 100% would have found a way to mess up. Nicest thing the Blue Jays did for the Phillies this weekend was to take the bat out of Bohm's hands there.

As a former Athletic writer, I strongly believe the pivot point was the pandemic. Before 2020, I do think the company goal really was to have exceptional local coverage everywhere. It was a point of pride that we had someone covering every team in the 4 major North American sports leagues.

The Athletic's slow-motion exodus from local coverage obviously directly contradicts the original stated purpose of the publication, and is exacerbating the problems that were created when they initially vacuumed up so much of the local talent

There are a lot of 00s Warped Tour records from the high school days that I fully acknowledge now aren't any good. But I'll still go to bat for Sing the Sorrow. It's just such a weird, cool, beautifully produced record with lyrics that in its chosen gothic style still hold up.

Good news on Nikita Grebenkin. Per a team source, it's looking good that he'll be fully healthy and ready for training camp in September. Obviously could be a setback over the next 1.5 months, but right now, things look good. No surgery was necessary.

Given the types of linemates (Fs and D) that Bowen Byram is going to get in his new role as big-minutes, first-pair defenseman, I am even more skeptical (and I was already very skeptical!) that Chicago's bet on him is going to work.
